View Full Version : I added some cup holders to the Supra FINALLY (pics)

If you're like me and have owned a Supra for years now and every time you have a drink you have two problems... cold testes satchel and soggy floor mat(s). Well, problem solved! I got these folding cup holders off of eBay and with the use of four 1" self tapping screws and a few minutes time had some pretty nice looking cup holders. They are very sturdy and look OEM like they should have been installed from the factory. Here's some pics so you can see what they look like and where I mounted them in case you wanted an idea on where to put them (please excuse the mess because it's winter and not much cleaning takes place):

Here's the driver's side cup holder. It's low enough that it needs to be closed to access the fuel door release or hatch release but it's not a big deal because it's rare that I use either one and the amount of convenience I get out of this will far outweigh the inconvenience of moving it every now and then.

Here's a picture of the same holder upon and holding a standard size soft drink cup w/straw (man I loves me some yard bird) and you can see what I was talking about with access to the release levers. If you put it higher or further forward to allow access you will have more issues with your leg and the cup it's holding though so it's the best place for it IMO.

Here's the passenger side cup holder. It's closed and you can see that there's nothing that it gets in the way of. The flash makes it stand out more than it really does in real life. The funny part is I told my mom about it an hour before picking her up for lunch and she leaned down to put her purse on the floor and didn't even see it until I pointed it out to her. So they blend pretty good and remind me of the old fold out ashtrays that cars used to have from the factory but larger.

Last picture to show you the passenger side cup holder with a Slurpee cup in it. The base is 4" x 4" so it can accommodate pretty large cups and this is about the largest cup that I use. I often drink from large Mason jars and even tested to see if one would fit. It does but not real well so I'm not sure I would use it for that. Should hold just about everything else just fine though.

My wife drinks it. It's actually diet cream soda which isn't too bad. I don't drink out of cans much and had some Bud Light but as I reached for it I could see some bonehead drinking and driving and wrapping his shit around a pole and then suing me because he say the picture on the intrawebs and blamed me for saying it was alright by posting the pic.

It generally takes 15 mins to prep it to leave the showroom.

Jer, those cupholders look really good? I'm gonna post this thread on G2IC, us G2 integra guys have very little love on the cupholders. My spot is between the ebrake, and have soggy carpet around there.

D'oh!

Probably should have read something like this:

I don't drink out of cans much. I had some Bud Light but as I reached for it I could see some bonehead drinking and driving and wrapping his shit around a pole. He would then sue me because he saw the picture on the intrawebs and blamed me for saying it was alright by posting the picture.

There, I even corrected some misspellings which may have added to the confusion.

If you're a Seinfeld fan, it would read more like this:

I don't drink out of cans much!! I had some Bud Light but as I reached for it I could see some bonehead drinking and driving and wrapping his shit around a pole!! He would then sue me because he saw the picture on the intrawebs and blamed me for saying it was alright by posting the picture!!!

When it was still just about stock and running stock tires? 11.21@127, that was with only 450ish rwhp, it's at the 800~ mark now on motor/charger, I've also got some juice on top of that.

M@
01-30-2008, 06:25 PM
And on the other hand, you're also lying. Stock Cobras go high 12's bone stock, you tard. "Just about stock"? Alright, so I'll give you a mid-12. Either way, bullshit on the 800+ mark, and bullshit on you even owning the car. Come to Colorado and race me, pussy.

Just about stock meaning, a K&N filter, a pulley and a tune.

Does that look stock jackass? That's a 2.4 KB blower on top of a 4.6 that has more money in it then all your cars combined values, stfu, I'd blow your doors off.

You mean on the insides, either side of the tranny tunnel?

stu
02-06-2008, 12:41 AM
Yeah. When I was looking at it, it seemed like my feet would never be in that area, plus you could get in and out without having to step over the drink.

Jer

Yeah. When I was looking at it, it seemed like my feet would never be in that area, plus you could get in and out without having to step over the drink.

That seems like a better idea but your leg won't clear it with a cup in it. I checked that first because it's where I wanted it but your leg just won't clear it. On the outside it doesn't change where you rest your legs while sitting at all.

stu
02-06-2008, 12:48 AM
I can see that, because you tend to lean toward the middle of the car. At least you thought of it.

Jer

I can see that, because you tend to lean toward the middle of the car. At least you thought of it.

Your inside leg is much closer to the tranny tunnel then it is the door sill. It just wouldn't work but I agree it would make life easier getting in and out. I did look at it first but quickly gave up on that placement.

Trust me when I say that you aren't going to have issues w/this being in your way. When you're in your Supra next set a cup on the hatch/fuel door release and you'll see where it would rest. It's basically tucked right in against the seat there.

As for safety, if I had a nickel every time I spilt a full drink that was either in my lap between my legs or next to me wedged in with stuff in the passenger seat I would probably be at least $8.35 richer. I almost run my car off the road every time it happens trying to catch it and/or clean it up quickly on my way to pulling over. Trust me what I say this mod was as much for safety as it was convenience.
