I'm not really sure if this is in the right spot but please move it to the correct area if its not. So I got into a accident recently and progressive is paying for all my damages and rental. So my question is, what kind of cars are typically used for rentals such as my situation? Do you as the insurance company choose it or do we the customer choose?

i believe they just give you whatever is available and the cheapest.
Since you are getting a rental through the other carrier, and you don't have a contract (policy) with them, they are not bound by any contractual limitations. For example, if you were getting a rental through your own insurance company and had $30/day for rental, then they legally, can not pay you for more than $30/day for up to $30 days, as it would be a breach of contract.
Going through the claimant carrier does not have that restriction, but you should not expect an Escalade or anything. When I arrange rentals for clmts, I put them into a standard vehicle (I don't even know what kind of car that is) because I get a standard sized car for $29/day. Basically, you should be able to get a vehicle with the same passenger capacity as your car has with no problem. If you wanted a truck or something, you'd either have to prove you needed it for business use, or just pay the difference.
You've got a pretty small car, so they'll probably give you something of equivalent size. Let us know what kind of car you get, who you get it through, and how much a day it is. I set up rentals all the time, but I never even know what kind of car it is.
