http://www.240sxforums.com/forums/attachment.php?

http://jrock.50megs.com/images/dscf0142.jpg

and this one

http://images.cardomain.com/installs/208000-208999/208961_13_full.jpg

the rear ends are totally different, but they are they same generation ( i think)

can someone explain it to me?

EDIT: i changed the secong pic for more clarity

The 180sx was the fastback version of the 240sx sold in japan. It had the sr20det not the ka24de. The second picture is of the 240sx coupe. It is the same just coupe. It is sold in the us. They are the same generation. In japan they are the 180sx and the silvia. Consider it an option coupe or fastback.

I personally don't like either one of those. This is the body style I like, the S14 is it?

i like that body style too, but the shape of the rear trunk lid & back glass just looks too wierd. besides, i'd rather save the money for a sr20det or rb24det motor

if i found a good deal i'd still jump on it tho :)

not bad, I'd take either one, I do however like the 95-96 front ends just a TAD bit more tho for some reason... I like rounded shapes, like asses and womens' curves... Angular may be meaner, but rounded is more sleeper and luxurious IMO.

i agree, the front end on that black one looks very good, however, it is the exception. usually that front end looks like ass!!

after the turbo motor is in of course!

If I do end up getting a 240 I will get a 95 because it will still be OBD1, it will be cheaper in both cost and insurance.........then I will swap in an sr20det or if I learn more about the rb25dett I might go with that and then get an s15 front end.

i agree. plus, i think the 97-98 looks good enough that it'd be a waste to change it over to an s-15

It would be nicer to get some clear headlights tho, I'm not into the clouded look either.

I saw this s15 engine on ebay. It says you can buy it now for 6200. It does come with everything you could want and need for the swap. But thats still loot.

Let me straighten you guys out on Nissan engines. There is no rb24det or a rb25dett. It is a rb25det from a skyline gt-s. RB26DETT are 6000 just for the engine. If you wanted to this swap you might as well get an old z since they bolt right in. The going rate on a s-13 sr20det swap is about 5 grand if you do it right. A cheaper option is to go with the ca18det. These cost around 1800 for the engine. NO usdm 240sx's came from the factory turbocharged. They came with the 2.4l 4-cylinder engine in every single year. These cars are also not the best drag racers. 240's are made to turn if you have driven one you'll know. Here is a pic of the 95-96 s-14(zenki) headlights. These are glass euro style.

Now that's a beautiful car. I like the euro clear headlights. Also, the S14s 95-96 kinda sorta look like camry's in the front. Anyways, it's good to know what the prices are, but you only listed a Sp-13 sr20det swap price. What about an S-14 sr20det swap? I'm sure they put sr20det's in 240SXs in other countries, no?

Most people swap in a s-13 blacktop into s-14s. One they have a high flow head and two they don't have VTC (Nissan VTEC). The cost is about the same for either swap, except the wiring is a bitch for a s14. In every country outside North America they got sr20det engines. Here are a few sites for engines and swaps: www.srswap.com www.unstable-hybrids.com www.jspec.com The cost of sr motors keeps inflating a lot due to the increased interest in them so look out.

i got this on www.boostfactor.com

SR20DET Swaps

Red-Top S13 SR20DET 180SX 91-93 and Silvia 91-93
$3800 Average Miles 30k-45k miles

Black-Top S13 SR20DET 180SX 94-98
$4000 Average Miles 30k-40k miles

Performance: The stock turbo is good up to 1 Bar - 15 psi. The engine should produce 240ish RWHP at this boost.

Black-Top S14 SR20DET Silvia 95-98
$4600 5 Speed Average Miles 18k-30k miles

Performance: The stock turbo is good up to 1 Bar - 15 psi. The engine should produce 255ish RWHP at this boost.

Black-Top S15 SR20DET Silvia 99-Current
$5800 6 Speed Average Miles 8k-25k miles

Performance: The stock turbo is good up to 1.2 Bar - 18 psi. The engine should produce close to 300 RWHP at this boost.

1998cc
10-24-2002, 03:57 PM
the 5g's is for neccesary upgrades FMIC, Downpipe, Clutch, Fuel Pump and miscellaneous costs (It adds up quick). The engine alone is 2,400. No way you will get a s-15 conversion for 2500 it is more like 3000 plus installiation. Go with the s13 sonversion only 800 bux and bolts right in.

turboholic
10-24-2002, 04:06 PM
I dont know anyone who has bought an engine from here but there prices are cheap. Im interested in the rb20 with everything for 500 dollars. But rb25det for 1800, thats cheap, especially being out of a 94-97 skyline. Im sure you will spend alot of money
to get it installed and running.

There is no real advantage by swaping in a rb20det rather than a sr. People are makin 400hp with only turbos and injectors with these engines. it will cost atleast 2g's to get an rb to run. The price is a same as an sr. The rb is also 13 years old.

turboholic
10-24-2002, 04:15 PM
one advantage would be its 6 cylinders compared to 4 so you will have more torque. Also if it blows up and you have to buy another engine its only 5bills compared to a sr which is probably a minimum of 1500

1998cc
10-24-2002, 04:21 PM
It has the same literage so the troque is damn near similar. Parts for the rb20 are hard to come by, so hope it doesn't break. The only people who do this swap are drifters. If you want to put the engine in go ahead it has been done Click (http://www.unstable-hybrids.com) click on projects.

turboholic
10-24-2002, 04:23 PM
500 dollars just seemed cheap, but in the long run any swap is gonna cost thousands of dollars.

1998cc
10-24-2002, 04:26 PM
A ca18det swap is possible too. You can get a complete swap for 3g's and find any replacement parts(timing belts, valves, etc.) in the US.

10-24-2002, 04:33 PM
What do you think a t3 would be like on a stock sohc 240sx

1998cc
10-24-2002, 04:54 PM
A straight up T3 is a good turbo below 10psi, it also depends on which trim you get. Those engines can handle only 7psi on stock internals. You could always swap in a DOHC for 5bills and turbo it. At about 7 psi on a SOHC you get about 200 to the wheels. I would personaly get a sr or a ca.

I have T4 turbo from my last car do you think thats too big for the ka?

1998cc
10-24-2002, 05:07 PM
I need to know your setup like pistons, injectors, turbo trims, in order for me to judge it. I personally think a t4 is too big for a stock set up. Just start PMing me your questions.
