I have NOTHING to do tonight, and here i am, sitting next to a pile of beer, and I can't even muster up the will to drink enough of it to talk shit to random people on this fine internet forum. I've failed you HAI, I'm sorry.
Forgiveness granted. Please hand over man card.

I would also like to add that you can shot gun a beer real easy by using a bottle openeer to puncture the bottom of the can. Makes a real nice hole, real clean too.
Personally I prefer to drink out of a nice big glass.

Is there some secret to doing a beer bong? Every time me and my friends try it, all we get is foam unless the beer sits in there for a bit

I never knew you could win beer mugs in nasa, I think this might be grounds to come out of retirement and win a slightly bigger second place honda challenge mug...its what Soichior Honda would want.

considering theres no honda challenge cars in our region that should be pretty easy. there was one but he quit after even the miatas were lapping him . But yes, winning a beer mug was the greatest achievement of my life. Perhaps greatest achievement ever in the history of man?
Drinking is an essential part of our race group every weekend, you should come out of retirement.

I pour slowly, and try to stop before the foam gets there....
From my experiences, there is always going to be some foam though.

Well, we used to have the Pikes Peak Acura team (supercharged NSX, an RSX, and a pretty fast Integra GS-R), but I haven't seen those guys in a while. I know they were working on selling off their stuff though.
I'd like to see Honda Challenge out here, and everything is in place for people to be able race in it, but there just doesn't seem to be enough Honda/Acura guys in Colorado who are serious enough to go wheel-to-wheel racing. It's all 944, CMC, and Spec Miata right now.

Thats weird that honda challenge never took off over here, eh, I'm way too poor to wheel to wheel for a while anyways...
That and I need to get out of HPDE :D

We have connections to "fast-track" things... ;) Chris went straight from HPDE 2 to the competition license school. Of course, he wrecked into another car before the school was over. It wasn't funny at time, but now it's pretty hilarious. The requirements are a little higher now. :D I really wish I would have had video for that event.
BTW, David... race a 944 with us and you might get to be on TV. :D We're going to have professional media coverage for our June championship event at Miller Motorsports Park. That will be a big improvement over the 10 seconds of fame we got on the Altitude and KWHD channels.

What do you do when you hit somebody in a race? Do you have to pay for the repairs on the other persons car?

Everyone who is involved in this level of racing accepts some risk by being out there, and we all know that a real race car has dents, but if you are clearly at fault then you really should try to make things right with the other driver, and there usually wont be much expected from you. NASA is very much a family, and each class is it's own family too, so if someone's car needs to be fixed, we'll all help each other out with labor, tools, spare parts, and sometimes even sharing/lending sponsor money and discounts. Even in the very rare case that a car gets "totaled", he'll probably just need another rolling shell with a new roll cage, and then most of the parts from the wrecked car can be swapped into it.
Most of the car-to-car contact that happens really isn't a big deal at all... the damage is usually just a cosmetic issue that spectators can't see when the car is on the track, so a lot of racers don't even bother to fix it. The rule is that the car needs to look ok from 50 feet away at 50 MPH (ie a spectator's closest point of view). So, if the incident doesn't result in damage as defined by that rule, and it doesn't cause someone to lose position, then generally no one is officially "at fault" and no penalties are assessed. We don't have a "rubbin' is racin' " mentality though, so if it's a habitual thing, then the race director can do something to discourage it. Most of us run a pretty clean race... It's just that when you have a bunch of cars racing at 100+ MPH towards a turn, inches away from each other and fighting for position, sometimes you'll end up with two cars that try to be in the same place at the same time.
If it's a more serious incident (ie damage or loss of position), then the race director will consider the available evidence and make a determination of fault, and then possibly assess penalties towards that driver's competition license status and/or race points. The decision may be that it was just a racing incident and neither driver is at fault, which is what happened in Chris' case... He was passing another car on the inside when the other car turned into him. He got on the brakes hard to avoid it, but the other car just came over too fast, then they hit and both cars spun big time. They both lost their position, but the only car damage was just some dents that were no big deal. I was right behind them and had to go around them in the dirt... it figures that it was the one event where I didn't have my on-car video running. :( That was the biggest incident our class has had all year.
The exceptions to all this would be if you got into it with a car that's in another class (ie someone who isn't actually racing you), or if your own class operates under strict no-contact rules (such as a 13/13 rule). In those cases, there would be less leniency since you would have known that you should be driving with some extra room for error, but NASA is still pretty fair and reasonable.

Well, I'll see you guys out there next year. I'm going to be doing any HPDE's at Pueblo. Maybe I'll see if I can flag one of your races. I take bribes to throw the blue/yellow flag. ;).

Yeah, Raybob sure makes AI entertaining. The other classes aren't quite that wild though.
