I'm building my own little DVR but since I dont have the other parts for the DVR I decided to install the TV tuner card in my Vista PC. Fucking incredible... Vista downloaded the drivers automatically, I opened up Windows Media Center, and I have a full entertainment center. WMC is awesome, I never knew it was so simple. It automatically downloads a TV Guide, and bios on all shows and movies. I can see when movies are going to be playing (keep in mind that this is basic analog cable) and just schedule to record them when they are up next. My girlfriend says it is a lot more interactive than her Tivo.

The dual monitor setup which once improved my work efficiency has now cut my work efficiency in half. Fucking awesome. I can't wait to get this other box working with mythtv.

Which tuner card did you go with? I'm looking at building a dvr as well.

Yeah I got a Hauppauge PVR-150, it has a hardware decoder and is supported by everything. The video on my vista machine was that great though, worse than TV quality. I'm not sure if that is because of this card or my video card.

Does anyone know how one would determine if it's the video card or the tv tuner hindering the quality of the display without swapping out cards?
