The motor is really nice, but those wheels? yucky! And he still has those gay ass DOT running lights in NA spec fenders! Double Yuck! Euro fenders are only $60/piece from rapid parts...gimme a break...even my lil' sis has them on her 85 golf! Why did he cut out the little plastic pieces where the intercooler is? There is no way that they make the intercooler work any worse, now his car just looks worse, they are so tiny??!

A+ for engine B- for asthetics. Should done air to water and thrown that hideous intercooler in the trash. It is like he is trying to be sleeper by keeping the body stock, but then you see the intercooler and it gives it away...i am all for sleepers, but dude? Mixed signals bud.

BTW the mk2 golf is my FAV car!!! I know them upside down and inside out! I have a friend in denver that is doing this same exact thing on a white golf. (1.8 T K04, standalone....)

what are they Konig? Eniki? I dislike both of those brands...sorry just my personal pref (it is also a model thing...i have a mk2 so i hold this opinion near and dear...they don't work on that car).

Ottinger? BBS? ABT? yum! Those are the wheels that belong on a mk2 VW

They Konig, a kid at my school has them...and I still like them:D

I guess he spent all of his money on motor and management and can't afford any $bling bling$ wheels. I have a set of 17" 4x100 BBS RY2s in my garage w/ yoko parada spec2s on them, maybe i should email this guy and see if he wants to buy! :D

IMO its very nice. Its clean and dent free. plus who cares when your car is that fast. It may not be the nicest MK2 asthetic wise . with all the work into the engine you can tell he is more into speed than looks and this car does a great job at going fast. I would pimp it.
tell your friend to ditch the k04 and get a real turbo if hes going through the trouble of a standalone and if he wants some real power. the k04 is only good for 250 hp which is respectable but not worth the trouble of the stand alone and all that stuff IMO

Don't get my wrong, I'd pimp that thing too! I LOVE mk2s! You are right, clean mk2...rare find and he is obviously all about going fast...just a few things that i would have done diff (only really the intercooler).

As for my friend...i don't know exactly what his plans are. Tim Elms is his name, you might know of him. He took the motor from his 2001 1.8t and is putting it in a mk2. He sold his old car (don't ask what motor it had, i don't know, nor do i want to) and is putting alot of $$ into this car. It HAD a K04, TT downpipe...bla bla bla old shit on it w/ stock engine managment (APR chip). And now that he is doing the mk2 it is easier to do the stand alone than figure out wireing or rewire the whole car for mk4 so that is what he is doing. He is getting additional work done to the motor and i don't know what he will end up with in the end. But i expect alot (i hope he does not let me down).
