Ok I have a full skunk2 camber kit im going to be installing soon, My question is after the install should I get the alignment with my 17”s with 205/40/17 tires or with 15”s with 195/55/15 tires. let me know your thoughts and why.

Thanks,

get it aligned with whatever wheels will most often be on the car.....because they will be on the car most often

That was my initial thought, but the 15"s will have snow tires on them and i want to be able to get around this year as apposed to last year where 3 inches stopped me. Do you think it will have that much of an affect on the 15"s if i do the alignment on the 17"s

fyi i had the 17"s last year

I dont believe tire size would necessarily effect the allignment geometry. If you think about it, you dont adjust the tires/wheels when you do an allignment, you adjust the suspension components, i.e.: tie rods, camber kit, and the occasional sub-frame shift for caster (caster, camber, toe, etc.) I personally have seen no difference in allignment based upon the wheel/tire combination. The only difference would be the unsprung weight due to the larger/smaller tire and wheel sizes. Hope that helps

I would assume that there is a certain amount of degrees difference in which the tires sit on the ground. Basically i want the snow tires to work excellent and come time to put the street tires back on i dont want to go through a set of street tires in a month or two.

LOL Snap!

The geometry shouldn't change by changing the tires. You planning to adjust the C/Os up for snow? If so then ideally you should probably get an alignment done for the summer and one for the winter.

Or.....get a truck which is probably the best option.

Vince, you're fine using either wheel. Your overall diameter is close enough between the two.

No coilovers on this one. And ask your parents to buy that rig for me and if they can get me on a monthly payment.

Maybe you should hook up with JDM4lyfe or whatever and find some sellers that will take payments

If you think the Winter is Bad this year then go with the 15". Whenever you switching rims or tires, you need to get alignment done. So pick the 15" or 17" and leave it til next Spring/Summer.

To be postwhore? Too late, youre there.

Vince, the alignment should be ok with either set of wheels depending on the tires themselves. Alignment angles change with tire wear. If you have a worn out set and a new set, align on the new set, they will be the most true.

^^agreed! tires do play a roll in alligning a vehicle, but not enough to make a night and day difference. (unless one has new tread, and one is bald, therefore creating a difference in diameter) Either or should be fine for your allignment, but i agree with ghandi, the better of tires would be the best to allign with.
