All,

I'm thinking about having someone doing an engine swap for me and was wondering if any of you guys have used or known this person. I came across his ad the other day and seems like it's reasonable and trustworthy. Maybe I should just ask him for references, but thought I come in here first. Here's a link to his ad.

Thanks in advance.

ask to see his work, if he done custom turbo kits, built motors and p/p work he should have a whole portfolio of pics of pass work. if he can't provide that or sounds sketch at all i'd pass.

Don't get him to do your engine work unless you get to see his work. If he's well known then there will be tons of people to back up his work. There's a couple of people on HAI that can do Swap & Engine work for you. PM BoostedEG, 60-1teg, or HONDAGHANDI

any tech claiming to know all of that......on craigslist* is full of it. (my .02) ask for many refrences!

Does he have references?
Is he certified? (ASE or other schooling)
Is he insured? (in case your car burns to the ground in his possesion)
Is his warranty in writing?
Is he licenced by the state/city to do business?
A good way to know this one ^^ is if he only takes cash.

Plenty of options on this site for swaps. Many people will do it on the side , as well as many people who work for/own shops. (such as Ghandi)
DO a thread search.

I thought about doing the swap myself, but I don't have the tools, and it takes too much time. I just rather have someone do it and pick it up when it's done. But to find someone reliable and trustworthy is another story.

You could find someone to do it for 500 no prob, if you have all the necessary parts.

if you need someone you can trust with your car, take it to TC's.

swaps get pretty pricey if you take it to a performance shop they charge up the ass. if you have any knowledge in honda work i'd say have a buddy help and give it a shot and take the money you would of spent to have a shop do it and go buy a huge tv or something

***What work are you looking for? honda d to b series or j30 turbo swap? depending on the job i would say take it to someone who (like toby said) is insured or at the very least is credible* Credible=experience in a pro environment. You can save a few bucks with a no-one or spend a bit more with a car that will work right. *would you have a tooth filled by no-one from craigslist?....no you take it to a pro who is a bit more and does it right.* I would be happy to help (as well as many others in here) but first you should do some research before anything. Tell us what you are looking for?
