yumm...turbo vr6's. best of both worlds. sweet sounding engine with plus the beautiful sound of a turbo spoolin. Im not sure what turbo vr6's use, most get a supercharger. Theres a guy on the whortex with a turbo vr6 running low 12's @ 120 mph on stock internals i believe. pretty dang sweet

i've ridden in a mk2 (91) gti vr6 turbo. It had an EIP kit on it (yes, a T04). As far as websites go, check out EIPs

Their kit is sweet, but its fukin expensive! TOO expensive! ( pss.. if you dont know, its $8500!!!!! yes $8,500.00 no joke!)

Sites to check out:

www.eiptuning.com
www.hpamotorsport.com
www.matrixengineering.cc
www.vwturbo.com

They all offer mild turbo kits to T66s if you want to :D Ive thought about turbo'in for awhile.. but after much thought Im gonna supercharge! I plan to get my head PnP'd with the money saved on the s/c instead of turbo.

Everybody has bad things to say about everybody. I have some good things to say about their kit. My friend's car is INSANELY fast for a FWD car. It gets up and goes from a cruisin' pace like you would not believe! w/ 400 WHP, it MOVES (feature car Dec 98 PVW).

As for cust service: I have HEARD some flaky things, but HEARD is the key word. My friend that has the kit needs his downpipe replaced and they are not charging him for it at all, just a straight trade for his old one. His kit is OLD and they are still treating him like he bought it yesterday. Try that on for cust service.

Yeah I have heard that EIP's kit is well done, what about the matrix kit? I have heard good things about their stuff.

Isn't the matrix kit fairly new, or is that their SC kit? I have not heard much. I have three friends with the AMS Vortex SC kit and they love them. It is an "install and forget" kit...it requires little/no maintence even for everyday driving. check the belt...that is it. I have 2 friends that removed their AC compressors too and did custom belts.

Yeah, thier turbo kit is pretty new. I wouldnt mind havin a supercharged vr, but for a little more i can go turbo. I dont think the vortec or any centrifical charger would give the power and feel i would like. I guy in town has one on his 97 gti vr6, he says it doesnt make great power till 4k + rpm. The charger i have on the g60 makes12psi at 2k rpm, instant boost. So why not throw a to4 on thier with a front mount and make some serious power. the matrix kit with the front mount is 5500 i think, not bad. But yeah the install is longer and more complex but I think it would be damn worth it in the end. I think i am just ready to go the turbo route, plus its something new comin from a supercarged car for the past 3 years. But first i gotta find a nice vr6 for a decent price. I know of one but it might be sold already.

I don't think that a turbo is a "little more". My friend's SCs have cost them around $3,500 - 4,000 wheras a good turbo kit should be running around $7K. I think that is a big diff...maybe my numbers are wrong...correct me if they are.

So are you thinking about turboing your 1.8 8v or doing a VR swap and turbo? My friend Dan has done both. I have a friend in AZ that had a red G60 with the lysholm charger and he sold his motor and got a vr and the eip kit. Then i have a friend in CA whose car is now wrecked that converted from g60 to turbo (turbo8v.com kit i think)...I have seen one too many g ladders blow to ever mess with that SC. My friend said that the lysholm charger was loud as sin! What are you running? I am not a G60 expert...i just know a little...enlighten me!

I am runing the lysholm charger, Its way loud so i am putting a fully built ported g60 back on. They are supposed to come out with a silence kit sometime but not sure when, so i am ditching it. A turbo g60 just isnt for me, not much more power than a lysholm plus lag on the little motor sucks,I drove around for 2 weeks with no boost, slowest thing i have ever driven.Plus they just dont run right for some reason.I would love to drive or ride in a turbo g60 car but there arent any around, really curious how it stacks up to my setup.I wanna find a nice vr6 corrado but they are hard to come by. If that dont work out i will rock the g60 for a while and maybe save for a 1.8t swap. I dont want to try and build up the g60 motor as i dont think it would be worth the money for the power you get. I would rather have a 1.8t swap or a boosted vr6. I know a guy in town that might be sellin his very clean 92 slc, but not sure. If so that is my only chance at a boosted vr6 cause the car would be a lot cheaper than a gti or jetta wich i dont want anyway.

You know what your friend sold his g60 motor for? How many miles it had on it. I think if i could get a good price for the motor, the 1.8t swap would be possible.

I really don't remember what he got for it. It had really low miles (like 80k) for a 1990. I have a friend that just bought an SLC that he is going to fix up a bit and drive around for the winter, so i'll let you know if and when he is going to sell it. I still have not seen it, but he says that it is straight. It is an automatic VR6?!?! I've never seen one before, but i guess they exist (i knew G60 autos are around). He is throwing a manual tranny in it this winter while he is fixing it up. Sunroof works...other corrado probs seem to be okay on the car, but this guy will make it cherry. He might even hang on to it, but i know that his true passion is mk2 golfs. I have another friend in parker that has a 93 satin silver VR6 that is so increadible cherry it is not even funny...it is COMPLETELY origional and looks like it is still on the showroom floor. He never takes it out...just on sundays in the summer. It you wanna talk to my friend in AZ i can hook you up with his email address...

Strap a T66 to it, all the high end boost youll ever want :D

A T66 would take till about 8000 RPM to spool up. :p :D The best bet to go with would be a T3/T4.
