I'm kinda unsure at this point what to do. I'm not exactly looking for $$ back or anything, but I wanna prevent this from happening to others. 60-1teg sold and installed a GSR swap for me. Head had bent valves, intake and exhaust valve seals were f*cked, head to block surface was scratched to hell, headgasket was reused. I tried calling back, left a message, never returned.
Just wanted to update this. Motor has been to Revolutions to get fixed. The head has been milled, rebuilt with Golden Eagle headstuds and Mugen headgasket all to no avail. Still smokes in VTEC and on decelleration. Now going to have to rebuild the bottom end as well.
Now, my rear main seal seems to be f*cked. Eric can vouch for this, as he was kind enough to follow me home yesterday. He had the oil on his windshield to prove it. Currently, my car sits in my garage, with a piece of cardboard under it collecting oil. My wife is a fulltime student, and I'm an E-5 in the AF. $$$ is tight these days with my wife starting school, and this is my only car. I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna get the bottom end rebuilt with my limited funds.
I was trying to be as cautious as possible when buying this motor. Through PM's, he assured me the motor has never been boosted, and when he listed it for sale, this was the listing:
Posted Aug. 10th.
Im building a H22 for my integra and need to sell this soon test drives and compression testes are avalibale before you buy it.It is a 98 bottom end with 110k or so head and tranny are from a 96 tranny does not grind at all and has a Clutch Masters stage 1 clutch with about 2k miles on it.It has new valve seals head gasket rod bearings timing belt water pump.It will come with all motor mounts new axles shift linkage wiring harness and obd-1 p72 ecu.Im looking to get $1800obo and can install it for a little extra.I will not part it out so dont ask.Let me know if anyone is interested.I will include a bill of sale to who ever buys the motor.
Dealing with him in person, he was great. Very friendly, very helpful. Even went back a week or so later and he helped weld my catback up, so it didn't rattle anymore. After talking with a couple more people, I've heard more stories of bad expreiences. I wish I would've had the heads up I'm trying to provide now. I'm sure buying seats, or non-mechanical parts aren't going to be an issue, but I'd like to send a word of caution when it comes to buying motors and such.

Damn, sorry to hear about that. I was about this close--][-- to buying that motor. When I buy a swap, I think I am just gonna buy the block and such, then rebuild everything myself, unless I am able to test drive the motor before hand.

didnt it run good when it was first done? not sticking up for 60-teg at all just was curious, How did you determine to rebuild the head if the bottom end was bad too? Like a compression to leak down tesT? Could that have been more specific or did you do that and found out the head was shit and bottom end too? your main seal is leaking that bad? Samll claims court can be your best friend if you have the bill of sale with his add he posted, then with your final bill after its all rebuilt
gl man sry to hear..

Sorry to hear that man, from bad alternator to this I know how you feel when it rains it pours. See if you can find a good bottom end probably will be cheaper than rebuilding and if you have you Dseries throw that in till you can fix your GSR.

Eric can vouch for the rear main seal.
Initially, it was smoking after VTEC at 4400rpm. So, I decided to stay out of it, til I could fix it. I won $1000 gift certificate to Revolutions and asked them to do a compression test and leakdown. With the results they had(don't remember the specific #'s), they suggested rebuilding the head. When they did that, it was still smoking, but more now. Seems to me, that getting the head working right, just forced more blow-by than when it was going out the exhaust valve seals as well. They performed another compression test, and the results were something like 160, 160, 145, 160. I ordered new rings, and bearings, and I was waiting to get the bottom end rebuilt, when this happens.

60-1 teg is a good guy and I am sure he will take care of you. I have bought several parts from him, including a gsr block that is in my integra to this day. Never had any problems with any of the shit I have bought from him either.
Id say since you are rebuilding it and you are short on cash don't pay some shop a shit loads of cash to do it and learn to do it yourself. Blocks are easy to rebuild if you pay attention and follow directions.

I gave him my D-series and $100 to install it. I can do basic boltons and stuff, but I'm clueless when things get alot more technical. I'd love to rebuild it myself, but I don't have someone to work side by side with me, and explain every little step, and I need my car as soon as possible.

that one cylinder at 145 is a little low, Sucks he posted an ad saying new new new and you get that. whats your estimate for bearing and rings installed?
Spoon92
11-07-2007, 11:44 AM
I had someone who was gonna do it on the side, but it's been difficult for him to have the free time.
They were gonna do the work for $300, and do it in one day.

I hope he works with you on it. I have bought other parts from him, but nothing like a motor. But after i found out he works at PFI and thinks they are the greatest shop i am not surprised to hear this. I personally would be very reluctant to buy anything like a motor or tranny from him myself. Just my opinion from past dealings with PFI and people associated with them.

Ur funny ive never seen a motor run with all the valves bent. You drove the car from the springs to my shop twice with no problems.I told u i would do the valve seals for u and never heard back from u i still have the seals sitting at my shop.I never got 1 pm from u saying there was anything wrong then all of a sudden everything is junk. You had the option to drive my integra with the motor still in it and i said i would do a compression/leak down for u but u said u didnt want to drive up here 2 days in a row.I sold you that motor a couple months ago who knows how u treated it.I dont see how u drive ervey day and it ran just fine in my integra for over a month so sorry your having so many problem.I could see if it was the next week or something but a couple month down the road.I didnt say it had a 6 month 6000 mile warrantey. When i by a used motor i dont expect them to give me money back or fix it if something goes wrong a couple months down the road.

I didn't say all the valves were bent. I believe there were two to be exact. The headgasket was reused, and the machine shop that repaired it, said it looked like the surface had been "scotch-brighted"(their words). It didn't drive from the Springs to Erie twice with no problems, it was smoking the whole time. Why else would we have the discussion about replacing the valve seals? I know how I treated it. I babied it for the past 3 months to get to work and back. I've never taken it to the strip(because I can't afford for it to break), because I already knew it was smoking. I left you a phone message almost two months ago, and never got a call back.
I figured fine, he's ducking me. He sold it, he's done. I was hoping when I got the head rebuilt, I'd have no more problems. That wasn't the case. Explain to me why you said the seals were at your shop, but when you advertised the motor, you said they were new? And then, when we were discussing replacing them, you wanted to charge me another $100 to replace something you said was already replaced? I'm not asking you to fix it, or give me any money back. I'm just letting others know of the transaction I've experienced with you.

I appreciate the offer. I didn't realize leaving a message wouldn't work. I've already ordered new bearings and rings. I think it was a miscommunication, and no hard feelings. That's sufficient for me. I'm not trying to e-thug anyone, or anything like that.

Sorry to hear that Spoon92. I know what its like to be a student with limited funds, which is why we try to go for the deals on motors and such.... but when buying used shit we never know what were getting. Theres always that risk of getting a fucked up motor, especially if a test drive isn't possible beforehand... hope everything works out for you man.:)
