Hey guys, thought I'd throw up a sticky here. You can ask me questions here and I'll quote and reply here or shoot you a PM.
Thanks.
You should make another sticky that shows pricing, available colors, finishes, etc. Right now i have to search through the other threads to come up with that information. Just a thought.

I'm working on a price list right now. Prices as well as colors are still a work in progress.
Thanks.

Damaged Rims:
so, I was told by a friend that the rims i am thinking of getting coated are "damage repaired". basically, he curbed the hell out of them, took them to a wheel shop to have them fixed and repainted. I'm not sure how they fixed them, do you have any experience with this and do you know if they're still coatable?

I have no idea whatsoever. I suppose it depends what was damaged and how they fixed them. I would guess you can still coat them but without knowing what happened and what measures were needed to repair them I can't say.

Yea that sounds great. I have also been thinking of bronze. Do you have any of that color yet and have you used it? I would like to see what that turned out to look like and I will probably go from there.

I have A funky dark bronze color that I think is kinds cool, others might find it ugly but it's unique. I'll be doing a set of wheels with that color this weekend as well as a set of gunmetal, I'll post pics of those colors when they are done.
Thanks.

I have a set of Forged wheels that I would like powder coated, however i have heard that baking them can be harmful to the metallurgy and can weaken the wheel. After reading, it seems as though BBS powdercoats their wheels at 356*F (180*C) but many guys on the STi forums say do not go over 300 or it can damage the wheel. What temperatures do you use to bake the wheels after powder is applied? Do you have any powders that will cure under 300*?

Very good questions. I appreciate the fact that you did some research on your own.
All of the powder I have dealt with so far are baked at 400* or 360*. If you are definately interested in getting some done shoot me a PM with the wheel details. I can call my powder distributer and talk to my rep about it, he's incredibly knowledgeable and will be able to give me his insight.
Thanks a lot.
Thanks for your timely response. The wheels I have are the factory BBS wheels found on Subaru STi's. BBS themselves said they powdercoat them at 180* celcius (356* F) So i cant imagine that re-coating them at 360 would harm anything. I will be in touch when i get serious about having them done.

Sounds good. Fwiw my roommate has a set of those BBS's that were powderoated black a few years ago. Odds are the coater at the time had no idea and coated them at atleast 360+.
Thanks.

Can you use Phosphorescent powder in this process? I'd love some glow in the dark rims.

Hmm, yeah I didn't know it existed. You buy that powder, and bring me what you want coated and I'll be glad to do it. I just can't front the money for anything like that right now. I just dropped over $300 on several powders yesterday.

I have some curb rash on all my rims does that matter?

My roommate can repair them for $15/each(if they are just rashed). He has fixed a bunch of wheels for me and he does a hell of a job.
If your serious about the glow in the dark stuff, order it and we would have to pick a light color to mix it with(per the glow powders instructions). Since it will be just like coating any other wheel I'll charge you my normal prices.
Thanks.

Let me get my winter set up on and i think ill have to make the trip to loveland. My DC2 is white so a white rim with that additive was what i was thinkin. Classic glow in the dark color right? Unless gold would work, but i somehow dont think it would.

I think I can make a pound work. I was thinking gold too, I think that would be your best bet. I don't have any white or plan on stocking white for a while. I also have silver that might be interesting to try.

In all honesty if they have a relatively fresh powdercoat on them I would probably suggest you take them to a shop that has pure industrial strength Sand blasters and media to take the coating off. I've spent way to many hours bent over my blaster trying to remove some coatings off stuff. I can then powdercoat them and I'd be willing to do the coating part at more then a fair cost.
Thanks.

I sure do. As long as it's just rash along the lip I can indeed fix it. $15/wheel.
Thanks.
