I have no idea why but State Farm is ALWAYS alot cheaper then any other insurance quotes I get. My Dad is retired Air Force and tells me about once to year to get a quote from USAA since his insurance is dirt cheap, but USAA is never even close to State Farm. I randomely check Geico and other online sources and yep, State Farm is usually around half:)

My '01 Vette Z06: $50.00/month for full coverage, roadside assistance, $500 deductables
My '07 F-250: $70.00/month for full coverage, roadside assisance, $500 deductables

I'm 28, not married, 3 total speeding tickets back before I was 21. I can't wait to get married and/or turn 30, it will drop even more.

Try Shelter insurance. Cheaper than State Farm. It has been for me anyway.

I'm with state farm too, I love them. It's nice having an insurance company that doesn't fuck you over the second you need a claim. Even if it was more expensive I'd still stick with them considering all the problems my friends have had with Geico/aig/allstate/ect.

Yeah my one and only claim was when I was 17. The stereo and sub were ripped out of my car. State Farm handed me a check the next day for full retail cost to replace everything I had, no questions asked.

I'd like to jump in and say your agent can make the biggest difference among insurance companies. A good agent will make your insurance experience a lot better and can make the processes go a lot smoother. Now for the rates, each individual/scenario is different. I hate people that call in and say "well my neighbor pays X amount for their insurance. Why is mine different". Each risk is assessed individually and the rate is determined from there. A company that has a great rate for someone doesnt mean everyone will have a great rate with that company. Mark has the right idea of checking around about once a year and making sure your rates are on target.

I don't expect to get nearly the same deal as Mark. In fact, I would be satisfied with 50 bucks a month for liability.

you probably insure your house through them also right? their multiline discount when you include your house reduces the cost of vehicle coverage by a good amount

We get a good deal too. Our house and 4 cars through State Farm.
They send me refund checks every now and again for between $50-100 per car.

I have geico... Full coverage 2007 MazdaSpeed 3... 170 a month >.<
I want to switch to Erie insurance.. I've had someone with Erie hit me... and it was the most pleasant painfree experience i've had... they were nice to me... No problems... They gave the money happily... Geico sucks especially when youre car is stolen!
Oh and I am 23 with no tickets... nothing.. clean... And I live in Washington D.C.

13 years with State farm here. My agent kept the underwriters from dropping me at one point because of claims. My car was a target for heavy damage for a while. However I pay less then 250$/month for 3 cars a truck and my RV. Full coverage on all.

State farm might be cheap but IMO they are slow as fuck in handling claims. Right now I'd be willing to pay a bit more for people that don't take a week to contact you.

Hmm...That's odd, don't hear that too much. State Farm has been #1 in claims handling for some time now. Sorry to hear man.

Myself-30+ years at state farm and I wont say how much I pay for house and cars, you'll all cry. The best thing is that if someone stole 1 of the cars I would get not only bb price but moneys for everything I put on the car as long as I have the receipts which I do, weather it be for a dipstick or a sleeved block

As mentioned for me, I had one break-in claim about 10 years ago. State Farm had a check in my hand for retail replacement cost of my Sub, Amp, and Deck.

My parents have been with state farm for 27 years, and had everything covered under them. They've never had any problems.

So yes, it does seem like most people have had good experiences with them. However, I'm for sure dropping them after this.

My car has been sitting in a shop for 2 weeks, doing nothing but waiting for them. None of that time has been due to me or the shop. I've answered phones, given them the info they need, etc. The time is 100% waiting on them.

I was supposed to meet with a guy today, which I would assume is one of the final steps in the process, but he just called to cancel saying the earliest he could reschedule would be Wednesday, with a possibility of not being able to till later in the week. So that's another few days I will be without my car, simply because of how inefficient they are.

From their website:

Good Neighbor Service

When you purchase a policy from State FarmŽ, you're guaranteed more than fast, efficient service. With every policy comes the promise that we will be there when you need us.

"Like a good neighbor" my ass.

If state farm is supposed to be a 'neighbor' than IMO this year they can go up against the ass hole in boulder who stole the land next to him for "worst neighbor of the year" award.

LOL about the Boulder thing.

Are you in a rental car Paul? Don't go out and get a rental if it's not covered on your policy.

stu

LOL at the Boulder thing.

Are you even in a rental? Don't go get one and expect them to pay for it if you don't have rental reimbursement on your policy. An insurance policy is a contract and they won't break the contract to provide you with the customer service that you deserve. Especially if they suspect any foul play.

DrJones

Naw, don't have a rental car. I think my policy is something like I can get a car, and they pay part of it, so I'd still have to pay out of pocket some.

I didn't think I'd need one. I didn't expect this to take weeks.

It's times like these I wish I stayed interested in Law instead of switching to programming.

I have a friend in St. Louis who's a Laywer. He says whenever he has any kind of problem with any company (Cell phone bill dispute, cable company taking too long to come out, etc) he just grabs some of the stationary from the law firm he works at and sends an angry letter. He says the results are always instant.

All you have to do is threaten to file a complaint with the Department of Insurance (DOI). They take those threats seriously, because that organization has to do an investigation into the work done by your insurance company. When they get a DOI complaint, the rep's manager is the one who has to write a letter to respond to the complaint.

I happened to get two DOI complaints on the same day. lol

I've been with State Farm all my life, my parents and my brother as well. My wife uses them too. I can't compare to other companies but they've been good to me so far.
