96 Civic hatch 99' Si front
Electron blue pearl
GSR blades
GSR brakes
00' LS seats
Si gauge cluster
B18c1 SWAP (supposedly built)
stolen last night off of north carefree!
This car had alarm and it was armed.
the shitty thing is the car has lojack, but it only picked up the signal for 3 miles or so. so i have general idea of what part of town its in and that south of where it was jacked.
600 dollar reward cash in hand to the motherfucker that finds it.

God damn. I am never parking outside again. I seriously need to invest in some sort of gps system soon! I fucking hate being paranoid about leaving my car outside even if I do have an alarm.

Thaaaat kinda depends on the installation.

Thaaaat kinda depends on the installation.
What are you trying to say? That they just ripped the lojack out? Or the installer didn't install the lojack properly?

They are 90+ percent in recovery according to their own statistics, so it seems the product is good:
http://www.lojack.com/why/lojack-recovery-statistics.cfm
It seems they have a range, there are only certain police cruisers that have the tracking unit...these are good additional points to the original install question. I learned in addition that they mount it in up to 20 different places, how to choose the right one each and every time taking vibration, dust, water into consideration? :shrugs:

Interesting info a smokie gave a guy thinking of adding lowjack to his motorcycle in addition to his kill switch:
The kill switch you mention is a good deterrant, but as you say, won't stop the bike from being loaded up and taken somewhere. However, install a movement alarm of some type that triggers a LoJack installation and the chase is on. Have an audible to draw attention and you're better off. Or add the 'pager/cell phone' notification gear to let you know when someone is messing with it so you can wander by and check on it.
LoJack uses the global positioning satellites to track the vehicles. See a police car with a zillion antennae on it? LoJack tracking gear on-board. IIRC, it takes three vehicles to lock in on a broadcast signal, they triangulate and presto, identify the current resting or moving position of the bike.
There's a LOT of statistics out there on recovery rates of LoJack equipped vehicles vs standard types of alarm systems. I believe the OnStar system is lumped in the same category as LoJack too.
The real question is for the price, I believe about $700, how does your insurance deductible fall in line with the equation, the loss of 'precious' or a replacement, bike options/payoff, lack of ability to ride until recovery etc.

I'm pretty sure that is a girl named Kristy's car. I remember a girl I dated a while back had a class or something with this girl and linked me to it. She seemed like a dope girl, ashame her car was stolen. Best of luck finding it. :(

Car was discovered stripped, so please continue to keep your eyes open for the b18, blades, tranny, kuhmos, ls seats, and si dash.. or even her purse and spy sunglasses.
Our fine CSPD had it in their impound lot and never told Kristy.
QuarterMile
11-11-2007, 02:05 AM
Fuck the CSPD, they never do what they need to, the funny thing is, we have people pointing guns at people and the police dapartment down here tell the people calling in to just come to the police department, they don't have a officer out at the moment to help them sorry.
CSPD sucks honestly I hate to be so crule about it but it's the truth.

Why in the hell would you post that knowledge? A simple "Lojack can be beaten" would have sufficed without spelling it out.
Mario
11-11-2007, 01:01 PM
Because it's a piece of shit system to begin with, and anyone who thinks LoJack will actually help is fooling themself.
I was thinking the same thing.
As to why he would post that information that is.
Martian
11-11-2007, 02:17 PM
Good or bad, that info should not have been posted.

I made a point to prove anything is beatable. This has been on the net for years now (dig deep). Before my business, Ive been on this board for damn long time. I dont post much but when I do, I provide information you cant easily find.
That is a very good read imo. If you make the choice to purchase a LoJack system, just know there is ways around it (just like everything else out there). Will every theif figure it out? No.
What if I told you this: Alarms can be defeated with a simple $20 Radio Shack transmitter. Will it stop people (or even yourself) from buying an alarm? No. But here is the best part, dig deep enough and you can find all the pieces to make it yourself on the net (its amazing what the internet can do huh?).
This test was out on the net as soon as ties with LoJack and I were through. They pissed me off that bad. So in essence, screw companies that treat their employees like crap. LoJack being one of them.
Side note 1: The findings of this test were later discovered by the company(4 years lol!). According to a employee still there, they did not change the design yet. My former boss called me and offered me a job in their engineering dept. I told him "no thanks man, life goes on".
Side note 2: It has never been noted if anyone has actually attempted this when stealing a car.

I'm not questioning your intent or character. I'm merely saying don't give the jackass theives yet another tool in which to rip us off. Please delete that info from your post. Let these asshats do their own homework on how to defeat these systems instead of doing THEM the favor of just handing the cars over. People do have lojack on this board and deserve at least a little peice of mind that not every theif on this board is going to know how to get away with THEIR car.
We all know that there is a way around every system.
HighlineCA
11-12-2007, 09:30 AM
Since there are a few a bit sour about it, I will delete it.
If I were the consumer of a tracking device, I would LOVE to know how to defeat it. Heck, I might even try it. I figure this much, owners now KNOW its not as great as they once thought. Or how the sales person made it to sound.
These days, we might as well hire someone 24/7 and watch the car. If there wasnt a loophole in every security device, ALL government officials would use it and it would not be available for consumer use.
