was looking at this wrx its a 03 and has 75k on it. just wondering but is that alot for a subaru and how long will wrx's go if they are well taken care of

Uh oh, that's a scary mileage for WRX's. I've heard of lots of trannies going bad right around that mileage. Their trannies are freaking made of glass and easy to grenade from the reading I've done, I'm sure some other people with first-hand experience will let you know for sure, but I was looking into buying one a while back and was pushed away because of this.

Alright, so it has wheels... so right off the bat, if it were me looking at buying it, I would automatically assume that it was probably a younger previous owner, and most likely wasn't babied like I'd want a 75k mile WRX to be. Just my opinion.

my personal opinion.....if i was going to get a wrx...id only get a new one. i know for a fact MOST wrxs are beaten the shit out of. unless you take it to a trusted mechanic and have them give you a really good deal. if not i wouldnt bother.

If it was modded, I wouldn't touch it. Do they have service records? Was the timing belt changed? As was stated about the "glass trannies", I'd start pricing an STI one, if you plan on getting serious with it.

The transmission is only a worry for drag racing. There are plenty of people over at awdpirates with Stage II WRX's that are over 80k on their original engines. If you plan on drag racing it, I would not buy it, but if you test drive it and it shifts smooth it is probably good. Look for any missing bolts from the heat shield on the downpipe and that is a good indicator if the downpipe has ever been removed.

Ya, I wouldn't worry about breaking a Subaru from power, lol, even modded :ezpi_wink
