Jesus..after 7 blown transmission in the Hyundai, I decided to sell the beast. Go for something more reliable, something with a warranty, something I don't have to worry about running 24/7. But while I'm still waiting to throw a tranny in the Tib, the GTI today decided to fuck up.

When I got home earlier, I pulled up my driveway in 1st, and the car would not let me pull it out of 1st until I shut it off. Hoping it was just a fluke (which I had a lot of in the Hyundai) I proceeded to drive to work an hour later. When I first started the car, it seemed to shift fine, but when I got out of the driveway, it let me shift out of first, but not into anything else besides 5th. I couldn't find 2nd, 3rd or 4th, and I couldn't get back into 1st unless I was at a complete stop.

Luckily, VW sent out a tow truck to tow it back to the dealer and they "might get a chance to look at it tomorrow". Fuckers. Does every car I own have to blow transmissions? I swear I'm not that bad of a driver, and I don't drive it very hard at all. But it's a damn good thing rain kept Test N Tune off yesterday. That woulda sucked if it went out at the track.

The dealer couldn't find anything wrong. It's driving fine now. Hopefully whatever it is will come up again shortly so I can get it properly fixed before the warranty expires.

I'm throwing on springs on Sunday (provided the FedEx guy shows up tomorrow). Do you think dealers would have a problem with warranty if the car's been lowered?

Thanks,
-Matt

Damn..you must be one patient mofo. I'd have sold ANY car after the 2nd transmission...even if I loved it to death. Forget owning any car that you cant count on to get you around when you NEED to. Guess thats why I'm on my 2nd Honda. :)

Better be safe and not put them on until til after you get the transmission issue solved. I dont know about the warranty though.

If you have the dealer install the springs then i really dont think they can say anything about the warranty. If you put an intake on yourself for example, it would void the warranty. But if you had the dealer do it then it should be covered.

Well I guess maybe it was a fluke. I don't trust it but it's running the same way it was.

And personally, I think VTEC is overrated. It's all about the VW's.

it was damn funny when i wrote non-vtec on my windows at the idrc in july. I heard that it made a toooon of people pissed and they wanted to "kick my ass" heheheh I didn't do it at the last idrc cause i don't want a big ass key mark on my door.

So last night the tranny screwed up again. It's run fine since that first incident, but I took off last night and it stuck in first gear. I stopped, shut the car off, got it out of gear, and now first gear isn't there at all. Of course it happened on a Friday night so I have to spend all weekend without a car 'til the dealer can look at it Monday morning.Hopefully it'll all work out for the best.

Kinda funny how the tranny screws up every time exactly 2 days after I race at Bandimere.......
