I was wondering if someone could give me as much info as they can on the 95-99 Eclipse GSX. My g/f wants to buy one and obviously im gonna upgrade everything on it but is there a site that has specs or could someone tell me the stock HP, TQ, Wt,1/4 mile, etc?
Thanks

Go do some "searching" over on dsmtalk.com.
Use the search function and don't post noob questions or they jump all over you.
I can list a few vitals here but if you PM me your # I can answer most of your questions even if I do own a 1st gen.
210hp TQ- not sure but it's over 200 ft lbs.
They weigh a couple hundred more lbs than a 1st gen, usually around 3400 and run the 1/4 mile in the high 15s/low 16s up here.

i thought they weighed 3100 lbs.

My 1st gen weighs in at 3060 in race trim which is no tools/jack/spare and less than a 1/4 tank of gas. 2nd gens wiegh in at about 3300+lbs off the showroom floor
www.dsm.org
my awd 1g weighed in at 3350 with me in it.

i ran a 15.5 at bandi with only an MBC at 17psi.
the truth is stay away from anything past a 96. you will have to upgrade to parts that are stock for the 90-95 models years. i.e. the eprom ecu, vented rear rotors, 2 piston calipers, etc. thats why i sold my 97 for a 95.

My friend's 1st gen ran a 15.4 with just the boost selonoid sleeve removed to allow for two more psi over the stock 10.5psi.
You're probably going to want a 1g, it's cheaper and the engines don't suffer from crankwalk.

all DSM engines get crankwalk. its just more prominent in the engines built after 95.

yea well i have seen the 1g motor dropped into the 2g chassis before....good way to avoid crankwalk. :D

They all can get CW but it sure seems like for every 1st gen that gets it to every 20+ 2nd gens inflicted with it or even more. I'd rather take my chances with the 1st gen motor plus OBDI tolerates alot of mods before throwing a CEL.

Actually im not really worried about the crankwalk. I think i'll just stick with the 2g motor and hope that crankwalk doesnt happen i guess. I dont think it would be worth it to drop in the 1g motor when it could possibly do the same thing as the 2g. Thanks for all the help and info everyone.

what do you mean by hook ups? i know the best places to get them, by that i mean it won't break the bank and its quality parts.

the best place for I/C pipes is Brode. if you go to dsm.org, under the venders page it has his email addy. you can buy an UI/C pipe and a 1g bov from him for the price of what everyone else charges for the pipe alone.
also checkout partstrader.com and dsmtrader.com

thanks for the info hoffman.
Stay away from Extreme IMHO. Many many locals have been burned by the Glazee clan...
www.roadraceengineering.com is -the- place to start. Mike Welch is a friend to the DSM community.

sure thing. i bought all the wrong parts on my first DSM. so its like my mission now to make sure others learn from the mistakes i made:)
if you do decide to get a DSM or just want to start getting some knowledge about them before hand.....sign onto www.rmdsm.org. there is a link banner here and most of the DSM owners here are also members there. it might be a good place to start getting some knowledge as well as dsm.org. stay away form dsmtalk and dsmtuners.
like john said, RRE is prolly one of the best stores for parts. 90% of my aftermarket parts came from them.

I personally haven't had any problems with Buschur Racing but with Extreme I have heard bad things also and they are pricey.
I like RRE but they have a limited selection of parts but they do stick with what works though.
