what is the work on DSM (mitsu) BOV's? just wndering if it is worth picing one up, or should I save up for something different??? Is there a reason DSM guys repalce theirs, or is it just for looks, sounds, bling, etc....

I would only be using it to a max of 12 PSI, only 7 fo quite a while...

Come on DSM guys......

it releases all the pressure inside the intake every time you shift. Some people do like it for noise though. i would say get it if i had the choice.

well its us 2g guys that replace the bov cause its a POS. the 1g bov is nice and i have seen many that were uncrushed and could hold 20psi.

most people upgrade for the sound, very few because they are pushing 30psi at 45+lbs/min.:D

sweet, What does the 1g look like compared to the 2g?? I'm just akng cause flyin miata sells the mitsu BOV (they use this standard on their kit, i think, and offer a cool sequencial auminum oneas an upgrade.) they said about $40... thats a lot better then $120+ right now... just spent 1600 for the turbo, the wife is frowning on spending much of anything right now... jst wondering how well the DSM will work....

1st gen BOVs are made from metal and the 2nd gen ones are plastic and the spring can be compressed easily with your finger. Mine personally has held 19psi with no problems.

Mine seems to hold boost, at least I can hold 14 psi, but MAN does it hiss when I floor it as soon as boost builds. I don't believe I have a leak anywhere else, as I did on the outlet of the BOV - I sealed it to the turbo intake and it was quieter, but still hisses.

when i bought my first DSM i made the mistake of getting a Greddy Type-S. what a mistake that was. although it does sound cooler than the 1g (1gs sound like a dry fart IMO :p ), i should have used the other $150 i wasted toward other mods. don't get me wrong, the greddy works fine, just not worth the money.

I had a stock BOV on my 1g and I ran 25psi worth of 20g flow behind it. I ended up replacing it with a Tial BOV because I thought I had a leak, but the stock 1g BOV was fine.

I had crushed mine slightly so it'd need more vacuum to open.

the mitsu BOV that Flyin Miata has is plastic :(

so I guess the question is it worth $40 or should I spend 120+ for an aftermarket one?? I can think of all kinds of other things I'd rather spend the other $80+ on... timer, shock (1 out of for anyway), new passnger side axle/ cv (stupid 7 year old CV boots...)...

You guys get the idea. If I do go aftermarket, what should I look at???

Remember that unless you are using a MAP based setup (vs MAF) that you need to run the return line back into the intake, behind the MAF.

I'd go for the less expensive part, as long as it meets your needs. Unless your needs are shiney chrome parts. :)

nope, there is a reason I put the heat sheild on, stuffed the boost gauge in the glove box, painted my stainless muffler black, etc, etc....
