I am probably going to be doinga B20/VTEC conversion for a friend w/ a 96 gsr and i want to get as much info as possible on ALL that is necessary for the conversion(oil feed, wiring, etc.)
Please give me any and all info you can think of about this. Also, are they prone to have oiling problemsor anything else related to running 8000 rpms on stock blocks?Oh yeah, one other question...,approximately,what is the corrected compression ratio after converting to CR-VTEC with a GSR head?
Any info is greatly appreciated!

to save time and space here are links to sites that go over what your looking for:
oil lines and shit: http://www.diyracing.com/2ndpage.htm
compression shit: http://www.bojangs.com/calculator/
edit: shit, just found out there's no b20 block on there.
as far as oiling problems go, do it right and you'll have no problems. The ls/vtec we built has been going strong for a few months now with no problems. His redline is set at 8200rpm so that's another answer to your question.
keep in mind the stock b20 piston valve reliefs might cause a problem, i'd suggest aftermarket just to sleep better at night.
if you want bulletproof you can always look into putting a girdle in/over the main caps as well.

Yeah dude, you really want to get forged pistons in any application with a B20/VTEC. The stock ones (I have 'em, you can have 'em if you want 'em if you buy the block) aren't that good, the CR is low. Even if you go turbo, the low CR is nice and all, but the valves on a VTEC head won't match up to the ones on the piston, they're closer together in the head. But aside from that, as long as you don't get super crazy with the dome, you'll be ok. The sleeves in that block are stock Honda ones. I'll look tomorrow to see what the block has in it like you asked.

question not directly relation to the first question, but is kinda in the same territory:
is the b20 safe to rev to 8k rpm? Since the stroke is longer than the b18c engines, would the piston speed too high at that RPM?

A very good how to build up.

Plus they also sell the lines and fittings you need.

I don't know if these sites are still up but this is where I got all my information from years ago. www.z10eng.com will have main bearing girdles.........although I can't remember what the B20 bottom end looks like off the top of my head. Get some forged pistons..........the VTEC valves are bigger than the reliefs in the B20 pistons (2mm off). Its only $20 to shotpeen the rods (burts auto supply/machine shop off of colorado.....they do good work)........so you could have that done while the engine is taken apart.......new bearings and maybe get the type-r oil pump with pickup. Oil lines are the same as LS/VTEC............and you need to move the dowels or drill new holes........also tap and drill the oil feed orifice in the bottom of the head and plug it up. Endyn (http://www.theoldone.com) I don't know if he still makes the pistons but Atomic performance used to carry them.
