I bought a autometer gauge last week and after a couple days i finally found the correct t fitting. so I hooked it up and the gauge isnt reading anything. My gauge showed 30 hg before i even hooked it up, is it supposed to be like that? I was under the impression it should read 0. I know my connections are hooked up correctly because when I turn on the car I can feel vaccum on the end of the tube that hooks to the gauge, and i can also feel air rushing out when i hit the gas. So im thinking my gauge is broken. what do you guys think?

It should be at 0, I can tell you that now.

most likely broken, maybe a 1in a million chance that there is some kind of a plug in the back of the gauge blocking the signal line. just a thought but not realistic
I would say it's either broken or there is a calibration setting on it that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off. But I would lean more towards broken.

Autometer has a history of making bad boost gauges. Their quality control really isn't that good.

It's Autometer. It's broken. Should read 0.

you can try one thing before sending it back... stick a screw driver in the back of it where the light goes, and wiggle it around until you see the needle move. You might be able to set it to 0, then test it in the car. I had this problem with my autometer (it was set to like 10 on vacuum) and I did that and the thing works great now. There is like a metal balance or something on the inside around the outer edges of the inside of the gauge, this is what you want to turn to get the needle to move. It's really easy, and if it fixes it, good!

I'd say get another one dude...so it starts at 30 and doesn't move at all?
i just put mine on last night :) I'm all happy. I'm gonna try and get some good boost readings when the weather isn't so crappy and my tires spin, but from what I can tell today and last night, it's was peaking at about 11psi and then down to either 8 or 9...
man, I need a chip :( but I didn't think that was too bad for stock :)

yep, it's gonna be a little while, since I want to get all the goodies with it, and I want to do downpipe and exhaust first...

I bought it from a shop in Boise so Im gonna give them a call today. I didnt think it should read vac like it was but i was just double checking. I took the light out and tried to move the needle to move like exciv2000 suggested but the needle wont stay at zero. It always drops back to 30 in.hg, but i can get it to stay at 10 psi but that doesnt help me much.

yeah, keep messing with it until it stays at 0 or very near 0. Then plug it in and go for a ride to see how well it works. IT should be just right, unless it's easy to go get a new one.
