I found a 1 1/2 inch piece of glass in my food at lunch today! Do not Eat at Best Taste Buffet on Wadworth and Jewel. It was a Inch and a half piece if glass (Broken Corona Bottle) in my Lo Mein Noodles. Does anyone know where I should report this? Any ideas on getting the word out? In the end im glad I didnt take a bite, but someone could get hurt.

You should have eaten it and then sued.

Actually thats what I was told. Like cut my mouth on it or something. Although I dont really want to sue unless it is 100% legitimate. I mean had I actually put it in my mouth and then noticed, I would definently be calling the lawyer.
I wouldn't have sued even if I had gotten a minor cut. Awareness is one thing, but a frivolous lawsuit is another; and unnecessary.

Same boat. Now had I ingested it....I think my Medical insurance would sue them though. Although I would sue them if it was bad enough, like something that I had to goto the hospital for(Again I think United health would be busting there ass)
Usually, insurance companies will only subrogate for whatever they had to pay out. You'd likely have to hire an attorney to bring a lawsuit against them. I think. I'm pretty sure.

gross.
one time my brother got a piece of glass in his water at Furr's several years ago and he did drink it since he couldn't see it... he wasn't seriously cut though, thankfully.

Well I think I will be satisfied with just getting the word out that this place is no good.
IMHO I thought the food was dissapointing at best. I mean it is cheap chinese, but still.
Good thing you weren't in Russia. There, the 1 1/2" piece of glass would have found you!

Last time I ate at one I got mad sick from it. would'a thought I would have learned. Now I know better, Never again. I'm not that pissed because my chick let them have it pretty good, She played the "What if my son would have ate it" card. Believe me she was not quiet about it! They were about as apologetic as could be. Hell hath no fury like a womans scorn!

I like Panda Express, they actually have really good food. Oh, and their kitchens are some of the cleanest in the fast-food industry. From my experience working with them (they are a customer of mine), they have some of the toughest standards for health inspections.

There is a character in the Simpsons with a bad Russian accent that always says things such as, "In Russia, beer drinks you!"
It's either Simpsons or Family Guy.

Better Business Bureau or Tom Martino
BBB wont really be able to do anything, prolly get your money back for your meal is all. Tom Martino is a retard..screw him. :p
Otherwise definately file a complaint with the CO Department of Health..they absolutely MUST launch an investigation if someone complains, and they are really the only organization that can do anything to them.

We had people threaten us all the time with the "Wrath of Tom" when I worked at Target...never heard from the guy. Just tells me that they only spend their time working on fights they can win...where is the fun in that?

I don't like Tom either. He picks and chooses who to help and not with no real reason. Congrats Doc, on getting on his good side!

Yeah I honestly dont think I could have not noticed the piece of glass, much less swallowed it. I mean this bitch was huge, big enough to tell it was a corona bottle. Oh well, im satisfied with a BBB and Health Deparment complaint.

I think that is quite unfair. Do you listen to his show? He doesn't 'pick fights he thinks he can win' because "he" doesn't "win" anything. He is fighting for every day people. Just helping anyone in that way when they have no one else to turn to is worth some praise.
If you listen to his show, you will see that he's honest. Of course he's not going to fight something that makes no sense to fight. No rational person would. Yes, there are times someone calls up and thinks that someone should do something for them or they should get some money for something, but tom will tell them they aren't owed anything, because that's not how insurance/warranties/business/etc work.
He provides free help to thousands of people every year. He and his team will give free help to people off the air on all kinds of issues. Yes, they might not be able to help everyone, but that's hardly any reason to dislike him. There isn't anyone else out there many people can turn to, and he provides his help for free.
I bet the much more common case of why Tom's people never contacted you is because those people got home and never contacted Tom's team, or they did, and Tom's team told them the truth, that it wasn't something that they could fight.
IMO the people who he does help far outweigh any that he doesn't. I know several people with issues small and large who have been assisted by him and his team. Not being willing to fight blindly for any random cause someone brings to his attention doesn't make him choosy. It makes him honest. You also can't really complain about a free service.

why not just bring it to the attention of the manager, get your free meal and be done with it?

We did bring it to the attention of the Manager, problem is they spoke VERY VERY broken English and They just bitched at a cook and didnt really seem to do anything else. Besides I think it would be nice for the general public to know that they have huge shards of glass in their food.

"they have" or "I had"? like they make this regular practice.
I just think reporting something that is potentially damaging to a business is extreme for an isolated case. mabe if other people you were dining with had issues with their food also then yeah that might take it up a notch. or if it was obvious that their food handling was sub par.
Atleat you didnt try to sue them.
jackmode9316
10-01-2007, 09:16 AM
Well Im missing something...your point?(not to be an asshole)
It should damage their business because point blank they should not have glass in their food. I think that alone is proof that their food handling is sub-par. Isolated or not. What if my girls 2 year old would have munched on that same piece of glass? He was eating the noodles as well and possibly may not have noticed the glass. I have never found glass, or anything in my food anywhere else. I dont feel they should be shut down or sued over 1 incident, but whats wrong with the health department coming in a taking a peek? If they have nothing to hide then it should be okay right?

There is nothing damaging at ALL to a well run restraunt about having the health department come in. If it truely was an isolated case, they wont find anything, they will sign off on their investigation..and its business as usual. However, WTF is GLASS doing anywhere NEAR any of their food prep or service areas? If you have something glass around and it breaks, you shut down the damn kitchen, hold any orders, and make 100% sure all the glass is accounted for before you resume business. End of story.
When I worked at Target someone reported us for spraying "pesticide" in the food area, we had a fly problem that season, (kinda like this year most anywhere) and we used the food safe/non-toxic stuff to spray before it opened. They came in, asked about it, looked at the can, and went on their way saying it was one of the best run kitchens they had EVER seen...and they were very impressed.
If something like that happens and you DON'T report it..its just going to happen to someone else. Its going to go one way or the other, they either find more problems and fine the hell out of them and set up another inspection, or they find it to be an isolated case and go on their way...leaving the owners at least scared that something like that happened and they will be more careful going forward.
