How hard is it to do brakes? I need new front and rear rotors and pads because they are shot on my avalon.
Anyways price at advance is 250 for it all and it's 650 at brakes plus and I'm not even going to mention Toyota... Are they bad and should I save myself 400 bucks or should I just take it to the brake place?

This would be pretty on topic for the Tech Zone...
Anyways, brakes aren't hard to do as long as you don't mess them up. It would be sad for you to ruin someone's day in an accident because you didn't do them right.

youve been on this site for how long and you dont know how to do something incredibly simple like brakes?
take off the wheel, take off the caliper, usually 2 bolts, take off rotor, put new pads in, get rotors turned. reverse for installation.

$250 seems a little pricey for just pads & rotors, unless you're buying ricer parts. As for the $400 labor to do it, there's no reason to pay that much, especially at a place like Brakes Plus. Brakes are pretty simple to do on most vehicles, so it's probably something you could do yourself.
I didn't think of owning a Brakes Plus shop as a "get rich quick" scheme, but at $400 to do something as simple as brake pads and rotors, it pretty much is.

I'll do it for $398.99 :) so there!
j/k
On an F1 car, they should be pretty simple since everything is designed to swap out quickly and all. Just have your crew chief do it for you, Asston.

Shut up, faggot.
Ashton, brakes are extremely simple and relatively inexpensive to do. I think I only paid in the $200 range for a set of Axxis Ultimate pads (F/R), Motul DOT4 fluid, and Goodridge SS lines (F/R) for the tC.

Ha yeah seems like everyone i've talked to says that they're easy.
The parts weren't even great parts... They were like advance auto parts parts that i've never heard of... Wearever rotors and Bendix pads? They said they were the normal OE replacements...
Here were the prices for them. Any advice on a better brand or anything and where to get them?
Front -
Bendix brake pads/shoes semi metallic OE replacement 42.96 per box
Wearever brake rotors front 75.54 for (2)
Rear -
Bendix brake pads/shoes semi metallic 47.48 per box
Wearever brake rotors rear 67.94
Total is 252.69 after tax and everything.

Why are you getting that Bendix crap? If you're going to replace them, at least replace them with OEM, if not high performance stuff.
If you have the Brembo calipers, the pads are easy to replace. Just pull the pins and bracket out, slide the pads out, slide in new pads, put back pins and bracket and you're done.

These are on his Avalon...
Ashton, I will use my dealer discount with advance and get them probably 10-15 bucks cheaper a rotor.. Let me know.
