Wow, what a crazy night. We went and saw Godsmack (awesome show by the way) but people started acting crazy and after it rained they were digging up the sod and chucking it around back and forth between the lawn and the seats. We brought a blanket to sit on (thank God, because I used it for a shield) I almost got pegged in the head three times with a sizeable chunk of sod. Willie B from KBPI said "you're supposed to be smoking the shit, not throwing it!!" lol... They were also sliding down the grass like a slip 'n' slide... it was out of control. Between the mosh pit (which I stayed away from) and the girls getting into a fight in the mud punching eachother it made for a crazy evening.
It went from hot as hell to cold after it rained... and they eventually stopped selling alcohol when people started ripping up the ground. It was worth the wait (almost 8 hours) to see Godsmack.
They rocked but omigod what a crazy night. I think that was one of the craziest nights of my life. LOL....
Ugh, glad I didn't go. I landed some free tickets to it (Thanks Kyle!), but it started pourrrring rain on the way there, and didn't lighten up at all so I figured it was rained out. Glad I didn't go either way, now.

yeah, it was nuts... we got rained on twice during the concert and it started pouring again when we left around 11:00.
I'm all for having a good time, but where do they draw the line? I think throwing sod is just a little crazy. Plus, they probably won't do tickets that cheap again because people were destructive. Oh, and the other fight I saw was a guy who punched a girl in the face because she was messing with his girlfriend. I don't care what she did, she didn't even hit him or take a swing... it was totally uncalled for regardless.
Some people just simply shouldn't drink....

I'm burned out on festivals/fests and am tired of watching these weak lineups for most of the day just to see the top two or three bands play.
I'd like to see arena shows make a comeback with the main act and a solid established opener.
Here's a drum head I snagged 20 rows back from Vinnie Paul of Pantera at '97's Ozzfest w/Sabbath,Manson and Type O Negative

And a couple cool tours from long ago.....

Yeah, it sucked watching all the crappy bands. I mean, some of them were OK... I just didn't know any of the songs.
We went to Godsmack, Rob Zombie and Shinedown last year at Red Rocks. That was a kickass show! And you didn't have to wait 6+ hours to see who you came to see!

I think Red Rocks is a good place to see concerts, or maybe it could be the fact that nothing was being thrown at me. lol....

lol you can't go to a KBPI event with grass... They always rip it up and start throwing it. It happens everytime. Thats why Red Rocks is nice. No grass and your OK as long as they don't figure out how to rip up the seats and start throwing rocks. haha

yeah, the concert was good. But I think I'll avoid Fiddler's Green in the future unless it's a band that I absolutely MUST see.

now that is exactly what ozzfest was like bahahaha. Same shit happened probably only ten fold. It was nuts how many filled bottles and chunks of grass/sod were being thrown around in the crowd. I saw 3 people get pegged right in the heads with filled water bottles. Freaking nutz!
I dont think it's really the right kinda venue for rock music as generally the crowd is usually wild and it's just a perfect setup for getting knocked out by air artillerary LOL

Throwing the lawn around must be a new thing for the young crowd since I went to plenty of metal shows in the '90s and the ground stayed put.
Pretty sad since it'll just be one less venue for metal acts to play if they ban certain bands from there and some will just skip denver completely.
fans need to see they are just screwing themselves.

Or they'll just raise ticket prices to compensate for the damage.

Willie B. said that this was actually worse than Ozzfest. It was being thrown back and forth for quite awhile. And the lawn looked nice when we got there... there were a few chunks of grass missing from the previous week but that's about it. After they got done with the mosh pit it was basically just mud and drunk/stoned people kept falling in it, lol.... These two drunk chicks were fighting in the mud and hitting eachother.
We just watched everything around us, it was like two shows in one.
