Has anyone ever bought an HDTV online, specifically through Amazon. Buying online is a lot cheaper than a retail store. But my main concern is with shipping, worried that it might be DOA. Also dealing with items, if something is wrong, etc. TIA.

I second purchasing it from Costco... I would avoid online for something like that.

Costco again.

I know 5 people who own the Vizio 42" and love em. Im about ready to buy one too. I believe they are on sale right now.

Vizio 42" here and I like it, plus Costco increases the warranty to 2 years.

Sweet. Their return policy still kicks ass. Cant beat the 2 year warranty.

Fwiw one of my brothers has bought 2 huge LCD TV's from overstock.com and had zero issues with shipping.

I got my 52" Samsung LCD from buy.com got here in 2 days and had no problems. I also got my 37" LCD from Tigerdirect and had no issues either.

Costco was a bit over priced but I did like the warranty. We ended up getting a Vizio 47" LCD for the game room though from there. Still not really impressed with Vizio though

BestBuy = Overpriced bastards unless you know people who work there. Then they're still more expensive then online but you get to play with cool shit.
