View Full Version : Adjusting clutch cable?

I've always had G3 Integras so I have done alot of work on the hydro, but I've never had to work with cables like on a G2.
But, my pedal isnt disengaging the clutch all the way when I press in the clutch, making it feel like the clutch is catching ever so slightly...making it impossible to shift into any gear. The weird thing about it is that its very speratic, one day it will do it, but most of the time it wont.
But does anyone have any write up or resource on adjusting this cable?
THanks!

there is a little knob type deal on the cable, where it is bolted to the trans. by turning that you can put more or less tension on the cable. it is pretty easy to figure out.
It helps to pull up on the cable with one hand and then spin it with the other.

you dont have to get under the car, it sits right on the front side of the trans.

Ya, I went out just now and messed with it......it didn't help:(
The car won't go into gear unless I push HARD!! And still won't, in order to move I have to put it in first and start it and it starts moving slightly when the clutch is all the way to the floor. Any suggestions?

If the cable isnt binding, its probably a failing clutch or sticking release bearing.

I think it might be the latter :(
I've been hearing a grinding noise in the clutch when the pedals pressed in the past few weeks, I think it just finally took a shit :(

my friends 90 integra was having similiar problems. his release bearing had broken and pieces got into the clutch and made the springs in the clutch pop out too.

I was about to post up that I had the same symptoms and it was a hub spring that caused my issues.

If there is no damage to the pressure plate or flywheel, could I throw a new clutch plate in there and call it a day?

resurface the flywheel definatly, worth the 40$, also a new throwout bearing, unless its pretty new

The clutch was replaced 4 years ago, the throwout bearing looked in good shape. I bought a new one from Honda today, but it looks almost perfect...
