so ill start one. some of guys know i'm leaveing for Korea here soon. what does this mean to a car forum, i'll have more money than i'll know what to do with on my car when i get back. so i'm looking for honest opinions on the setup i'm considering. i'm looking for around 350-400whp, daily driver, fun to drag (looking for 12s) but can run autox on the weekends.

so heres what i'm looking at:

-built block. possibly 2.4L stroker or a buschur stage II.
-BR20g or B16g BB (thats right, spoolinup is releasing a BB version soon, would be nasty for autox)
-tokico illumina 5-way shocks w/ GC coil-overs (prolly 350 fronts, 250 rears)
-alcohol injection
-maybe some N20 (just for the strip i swear)
-either some cheap 3g rx7 rims or drop the money on some TE37s
-spearco 2-120 (24x8x3) fmic

i figure with this i could easily put down the numbers i want. of course in a year there could be better products out than these.

You want to pump 400hp through a DSM drivetrain and expect it to be a daily driver?

not trying to start a pissing match here........but dsmtalk is for noobs. there is only person on that board that knows what hes talking about and thats Vern. everyone else is a moron. dsmtuners, dsmtalk, irc, cosr :D , these are not the places you go to learn about cars.

actually it won't, just money. and besides pushing 400whp througha dsm tranny is not alot. Dlandry was pushing over 500 before he needed a rebuild. there is a gentleman on NE.DSM that dynoed at 550whp on a stock block. not what i would call safe, but its not unheard of. besides a 400whp, 3300lbs car is only 12s on the strip. thats not that fast and thats not alot of power for a dsm.

edit- and just so you don't think i'm pulling this out of my ass. i'm a mod on the rm.dsm list. this is my second dsm. i have been tuning them since nov. 99. 3 years isn't as long some of the guys i know, but its more than most since its my only hobby and i crave knowledge.:D

Art,I'm on dsmtalk and while I don't know everything I am not a moron. :) Mostly like everybody pointed out beware of the trannies. High HP will break most trannys,it really is dependant on the launching abilities of the driver. John Shepherd is actually running stock internals on his tranny and on the stock diffs. He sacrifices his 60' times in trade for tranny life so really 400whp should be no problem as long as you treat your tranny with respect.
