i was just woundering if any one knew how to break the hub nut on the axle shaft and what size socket is it.. i had 1 socket the fit it but the socket cracked in 2 place's. soaked the nut with w40 and still nothing also im using a breaker bar and nothing any help would be appreciated
If you have a socket that fit, why don't you just look at the socket for what size it is and buy a new one?
I think it's a 32mm, if I recall correctly. By the way, PB Blaster kicks the shit out of WD40 any day of the week.

socket was a standard and thanks for the help
I've always used a standard sized socket as well because it's almost identical to the metric one. I believe standard is 1 1/4".
Take it to a shop and have them break it loose with air, then tighten it enough to drive it home.
Without air the best way to do it is a long breaker or pipe on the nut and a prybar through the studs lodged against the floor. Or, a screwdriver through the caliper and into the air vents in the rotor, but that is pretty ghetto.
Yep, just checked and it's a 1 1/4" in standard size.
And yes to what Nate suggested with getting them broken loose.

i broke two 1/2" breaker bars last week on a 36mm accord axle nut, after warrenting those out i bought a 3/4" drive breaker bar and a 36mm. i kicked it's ass.
if it's a civic or integra it should be a 32mm nut, accords are 36mm
also helps to have a 3 foot piece of pipe to go over your breaker bar, more leverage
D'oh. I'm a n00b, I'm assuming this is a Civic/Integra? I didn't even think to ask.

Try ask a neighbor if you can borrow their air compressor. Took 2sec to get it off with the air compressor.

If you have no one to help you with holding the brakes..
Just install a stock steel wheel or the spare doughnut..on the side you want to break loose. let it down to the ground, apply e-brake as high as possible. then insert the 32 or 36 mm through the center of the wheel use a breaker bar and voila'.. I've done that a few dozen times to tighten and loosen.Worked good for me.
For a Porsche?

lol.... I'd hope he already had the e-brake up anyways.
