This is where I spent parts of summers as a child. My wife's family came with her and I to a family reunion the weekend before last. This is from an area in south-east Montana called Ekalaka Park. I found some great logging roads and "tested?" (heck, not sure I'd know the difference) the locking center diff. The cosmetic plastic really hangs too low as I have managed cosmetically altar two pieces in as many light outings.

In any case here are some photos looking out over the land...

I have no clue, but areas around Bozeman & Missoula are really growing. Both are sort of the state's college towns, now that I think about it.

See that highway going through the first picture? That's MT-323. It's actually 1 of the roughly 3 paved roads in the county. See how the land opens in the second picture? My mother graduated high school in her class of 14 with the one county cop who is usually found hanging out at the local café in town. I could not make this up -it's absolutely true.

Besides the Montero this trip, I haven't traveled that stretch of road in years without going a ways into the triple digits. You can cruise at 115-120 in my father's DTS with him, my mother, and my brother all in the car and not even remotely concerned with anything other than the antelope they, as passengers, are responsible for spotting. We're talking next to no other traffic. I freaking love it.

I used to own a Galant VR-4 with a small 16g @ ~17psi that I had a love-hate relationship with. When my wife told me she liked the Montero I winced a little. 6 months later and I'll be damned if I don't have the same feelings about this Mitsu too! I am glad it's her daily and not mine.

If you are considering moving to Montana, make it the west of Helena. Montana is similar to Colorado where the most populated parts of the state are just west of center. Populated with respect to Montana is good, not over crowded. However, Montana is larger than Colorado, so it's just even less stuff, with even more land out east. I would highly suggest the Missoula area.

I drove to Missoula for Christmas two years ago from Denver. It was 11 hours. Also, Montana is one of the states that I handle for my job (auto claims adjuster) and I've NEVER once even had a claim in a city east of Helena. It's like a ghost town.

Also, Montana has some VERY stupid insurance laws from my side of the table. I guess if you could pick any state to be injured in a car accident though, it should be Montana. As stupid as the laws can be, they can really benefit the person using the insurance. Mostly that person's lawyer though. You could make a killing in Montana as an auto injury lawyer.

LOLz yeah I wasn't real impressed with the new Montero replacements, you can see in the sig what I got instead :) I love the old VR-4s! I have the 16G too, I am hoping that the new motor going in there will last longer than the stocker did....we will see. I went with forged internals, balance shafts out, and a nice cylinder head with arp studs throughout. It should hold up pretty nice. Were you on the stock motor with your 16G?

that's why I love driving there!

seriously, Bozeman, Billings and Great Falls (where I was born) are east of Helena. I didn't think they were that small. lol

My wife chose a Disco II first, but I was afraid my pocket book wouldn't have handled the maintenance and repair very well.

Yep. It did fine at 17psi, but I was in college and couldn't help but launch the damn thing all over the place. I was busy buying clutches instead of important things like a front mount, injectors along with a little fuel management, and maybe a 4 bolt. Took care of the synchro grind before I sold it too. Gosh, that was over 7 years ago.

Okay, I think I meant east of Billings. You are totally right. I have claims in Great Falls and Bozeman all the time.

You'd think I'd at least get a deer hit, or sliding on ice into a ditch, or falling asleep and hitting a guard rail or something, but no, nothing east of Billings.

We have an office in Billings, I went once.

They have low limit cash poker tables at the bars.
