Okay, maybe I need some advice on some weight reduction for IDRC. Normally I take out the spare and crap in the glove box. I'm not taking out my stereo or back seats (I don't have a heavy sub box or a sub box at all). I'm looking for the kind of weight reduction that doesn't make the cabin any noiser, doesn't take away from any aesthetics of the interior, and looks like a full interior (meaning not taking out the back seats or any carpeting). Also I require A/C and PS, so scratch those. What else tho can be taken out? Some of you like Tobi have to know where an extra 50-100 pounds are in or around the engine compartment eh that can be gone forever and not missed?

take off you bumbers. they are only rated for a 5mph crash and who wrecks a car going that slow anyway.:p

you'll prolly knock off close to 50lbs.

The bumper supports under the bumnper wont be missed. Unless of course you crash. If you want to keep everything in and still have a light car you are looking at the expensive part of weight loss. LIGHTER COMPONENTS. Like wheels, suspension parts etc.

I'm taking out my passenger seat just so I might set a new 1/4 mile time but remember it is only bracket racing and weight reduction doesn't matter.

the bumper its slef, not the facia. i know mine were fiberglass and prolly weighed around 25-30lbs each. so i just cut them down so only the top shelf part was left to hold the facias up incase they decided to droop.

I think the bumpers should go. I rember alot of hardcore DSM guys taking the bumpers off with no aesthetic loss.

Sorry, don't have any pictures of the back one. There's 4 bolts holding this big metal piece that my FMIC is bolted onto. 2 on either side.

If you really want to cut weight, you have to go all-out. Each piece you take out builds upon the last. Hence my metal interior.

As one of my favorite sayings goes:

Fast
Reliable (nice, like interior, convenience)
Cheap

You can only have 2.

you can always remove the winsheild washer resvoir. You could always get a lighter battery too.

You could always drink a lot of prune juice.

I own a 96 civic hx, which weights at 2313 plus a/c which is a option, so finnal weight is about 2343. The weight of my car at moroso after a motor swap (B16a2) and weight reduction. It weighed 2190. thats with a/c, power steering, and the bumper bars. tru i weighted with out a passenger seat and back seat. But back seats weigh shit anyways.
so what did i take out? resonator, heat shields, winsheild fluid, one wiper, plates behind the dash, installation shit behind panels, spare tire and jack, basicly trunk guted, tar out, repainted inside of trunk, since i never have more than 3 people in my car, i didnt need three seat belts in the back seat, just one, no heavy ass muffler, every single bolt not needed was pulled out . i now plan on taking out ac, power steering pump, back bumper bar, racing seats, fiber glass trunk, carbon fiber hood.. my goal is solid 2000 pound civic.
The way i feel about weight is that a 250 hp flywheel powered civic that ways 2000 pounds is 2000/250= 8 pounds per hp
A Dodge viper is 450 flywheel and weighted 3600 (correct me if im wrong) 3600/450hp = 8 pounds per hp. this equation basicly explains there both at the same power ratio. But i see it as the civic will win that race. for one the power does not have to transfer to the back wheels rather the front, dodge viper does not have as good of gear ratio's, plus people who own dodge vipers cant drive for shit.

A Viper can launch better. And how do you know that Viper owners can't drive worth shit? That is something jealous people say.

I'm all for a Civic beating a Viper, but I don't think that you would win that race. Unless you can convince me otherwise. And please explain how the Viper has a disadvantage in gear ratios.

Theres good drivers in every car, but ask me would you really practise on getting a good start off, or even go the way and abuse your motor. Its not like any teengers are driving the car. Mybe i am jealous but i do have confidence i could win with a light car and not as near as much power as a viper. Yes tru, my flaw will be hooking up on the street or track.

I downloaded a video off of Kazaa where a civic hb beat a viper. im not sure what was done to the HB but i think it was H22 and im sure quite a few mods also. I think all you would need is a H22 and a turbo kit (6 lbs) to be able to beat a viper.
