Well, took the car to the dyno today... first run hit 275hp untuned. After about 20 runs of tuning we get this knocking sound from the engine. Pulled the oil pan and the #3 rod is kinda burnt up. Metal shards in the oil pan... #3 rod bearing is chewed up pretty bad. Looks like they were on to tight or we had the wrong size bearing in there. Hopefully tomorrow we can get a bearing in finish dynoing the car.

Anybody know where I can get some bearings as soon as possible?

Thanks

Call Al at pac motorsports. He probably has a few lying around.
If it was too tight it should have showed its ugly head during break in. Maybe the crank was burred? Do you trust the polisher?
Im still trying to figure it out but now that I think about it we should have gotten all new bearings. It would have cost you about another $300 but it might have been worth it in retrospect.

Do you think the bearing was the cause of that random ticking I showed you? I should of bought new bearings... I just wasn't thinking.. to excited to get the car back together. The polisher didn't do to much work to the crank and I've never heard of any bad work from him. I'll post pics of the jacked up bearing later. It's been grinded down paper thin.

Do you think I should get all new bearings now? or just replace the one that is fuct up. I'm thinking if the other ones are bad, they would have shown us by know. There is no sign of the other bearings being bad.

So wait, you reused the old ones? No offense dude, but that's wack. If you tear the motor down you always gotta replace them or else they won't re-seat propperly, epecially if you mix them up. Did you plasti-gauge them at all? I bought ALL my berings (rod, main, thrust washers) for $110. They're (I think) ACL berings. All of them plasti-gauged w/in spec, I'm happy w/ them so far!

Sorry to hear about the misfortune. Looks like wear (this is how it's said Tobi) reared her ugly, green head.

As long as you had the pan off and were doing the work, I'd have replaced all the rod bearings, and had the crank mic'ed as well. You can never be too safe, or too paranoid. Esp when it comes to boosted motors.

Nice numbers, btw.
