Well, it looks like I'll probably buy Hector's old kamikaze header. It has a 2.5" outlet. Stock si exhaust has a 2.25" pipes. And I've always wanted a Mugen TL exhaust. I'm not interested in making the most power I can. I just want something that sounds really sweet. And I like the Mugen. And Yes, it is a lot of money and I would probably be better off spending the extra cash on some other mod. Keep in mind I don't like real loud, raspy exhausts.

Assuming I get both a kamikaze and Mugen TL
My options:
A.) leave the stock pipes (from the header to the Mugen) and cat.

B.) get new 2.5" dia. pipes and cat. and reduce the dia. before it gets to the mugen.

C.) Open to other options or opinions

Would it be worth the extra money to get the larger pipes? and performance benefit?

I always wanted a Twinloop, but it was just too much. I ended up getting an Apex WS and it was pretty quiet with the Supercharger on.
I would just leave the stock pipes, that way you could really hear that nice Mugen exhaust.

i forget what your exhaust sounded like. Did you have any problems with the kamikaze fitting right?

I personally like the bottom end torque increase I get with the DC Sports 4-2-1 which you somewhat lose with the Kamikazi, but the Kami makes up for it in the high end being a 4-1 design. I don't do all my driving at 6000+ rpm tho.

I would start off with a 2.5" Carsound cat off of that header, then either 2.5" Mandrel bent exhaust with a small resonator that leads into the Mugen TL muffler. Even a 2.5" crush Bent exhaust with a resonator would be just fine.
I personally think a new High flow cat is key, I'm not a supercharged expert but if your upgrading atleast the header and axleback then you might as well open up the cat as well.
And I'm not just saying that because I have a huge order of Carsound Cats of all sizes coming in:)

I have a carsound:) I think it helped by .100 or .200 seconds... we'll see at IDRC.

I did a search for Mugen Twin Loop on Google last night and one of the links was to your car. I thought that was pretty cool. I will keep you in mind if i do decide to get a new cat also.

Will the 2.5" pipes "ruin" the way the mugen sounds? I've heard as your pipes get larger it makes the car louder. At least with the 3" pipes turbo's use.

The larger exhaust will increase flow a alot and increase performance a lot I would assume. Not real sure what size/type of exhaust Superchargers "like" the best.
I understand you want the nice clean Mugen sound and don't want it loud. I would do this(which will be contrary to what other people will suggest)
-Go with a 2.5" carsound cat(gain perfomance, stay quiet)
-Stock B Pipe
-Bolt on the Mugen Axle Back

This combo along with the header should keep things smooth and quiet and still get you some power gains as well and not cost too terribly much.

Heh, thats pretty funny I just found that link too on Google, not sure how I got on there but it's pretty sweet.

The carsound made mine a bit louder, but that's because it goes from the header to the carsound 2.5 to the 2.5 or 2.25 DC Sports exhaust.

The kami 2.5 inch won't bolt up to a stock cat.

Yes it will :)!

It isn't supposed to but bolted to my stock cat mine never leaked one bit. You can't use a donut gasket with it, but it does fit in there snugly.

thanks for all the input. Got the paycheck today.

Will the stock b-pipe connect to the header/cat combo?

I like the idea of the kamikazi headers straight to the carsound cat to the stock b-pipes to the mugen TL.

Mark, the carsound cat is about $80, right?

Would i get the 2.25" or 2.5" carsound cat? since the kamikaze ends in a 2.5", but the b-pipes is a 2.25"

I would go for a 2.5" cat, then have it reduced to connect to the stock exhaust. But it's actually up to you, 2.25 flows actually pretty damn well. I've got both of them in stock as of Friday.
Email me if you want one and I'll hook you up w/ a sweet deal.
