View Full Version : Does this look like an ITR tranny with LSD?

I bought this used B18C5 JDM ITR transmission on eBay recently; it's claimed to be '96 ITR tranny with LSD. This tranny was purchased via PasswordJDM back in '04 (the seller send me the original invoice).

Does an OEM helical LSD always have a opening all the way through the middle? Just paranoid that the seller might have swapped out the diff for an open one before he shipped it to me...

ITR Tranny is overrated anyways.

the LSD is the shit, but the hybrid Integra transmission is better in my opinion.

I don't know anything about transmission internals but I do know that I hate people that talk about stuff but don't really know.

Please explain the technical reasons why you posted the information above. I'm assuming you have used both?

Well, the ITR transmission is indeed a very well built transmission and it's LSD is great for keeping power and reducing wheel spin out of turns, but in my opinion the "hybrid" integra transmission is better.

I've driven my friend's '01 Type-R..heh...not stock, and I like it, I really do.

but then i drove my friends 98 GSR which he did a partial hybrid transmission on.

the true hybrid tranny is this
1st gear - LS/GS/RS/GSR (3.230)
2nd gear - LS/GS/RS/GSR (1.900)
3rd gear - GSR (1.360)
4th gear - GSR (1.034)
5th gear - 99-00 Si or Del Sol (0.848)
final drive - ITR (4.785)

Basically, if you hack apart various transmissions and mate them together, you get some damn good ratio's.

now, if you could do that on an S80 LSD (ITR tranny) then that would be amazing, those ratio's on that LSD.

either way..I personally enjoyed driving my friend's semi-hybrid transmission over the ITR.

To clarify (or possibly obfuscate), not all ITR trannies have a 4.785 final drive... I think only the later models, or JDM only. Most ITRs have the same 4.4 ratio that GSR trannies have.

It would be sweet to have that .85 '99-00 Si or Del Sol 5th gear though... my car already revs too high at 85 mph on the highway. And the tranny I'm installing has the 4.785 final drive supposedly.

yea, I forgot to mention JDM 98+ ITR's only have the 4.785, ma bad....maybe some USDM's do...not that I know of though

JDM ratios only hsunchen. The USDM ITR had a 4.40 final drive. And youre right, the ITR ratios are very sweet except the 5th gear. For street use I wouldnt change anything about the ITR trans except the fifth gear.

5th gear does make quite the bit of engine noise, I noticed that only goin 80.

but doesn't like to hear a B18C5 humming along :D
