lookin to do the best, least headache possible.91 rex is completely gutted;only steering and pedals left.i have a wrecked 89 crx si w/good interior and other parts that would swap over .undecided on doing just a b18c5 engine swap or buyin the ITR front clip and swapin all that jazz into the rex.am i in for a bigger headache w/the itr clip?

i think the easiest way would be leave the stock wiring from the rex and take the b18c and and use a obd-0 b16 distributor and obd-0 pr3.

so you both are sayin that the wiring harness and ecu that comes w/a jdm engine or itr front clip is useless??that i will need some thing else than the provided jazz?

yeah basically, unless your putting it in a obd-2 car you cant use the b18c5 harness. best bet is to modify the crx engine harness for a dohc vtec motor

i am curious.if i have the itr front clip, can i just use the full wire harness from that(full engine bay & under-dash) and then splice the rear of car harness to it?

nah, it don't work like that.
instead of trying to use every piece off the itr clip sell what you can and buy what you need and do it the right way.
it'll be a big mess and a pain in the ass if you try to splice all that in.
not worth it if was me. just swap the b18c and do a hydro to cable conversion, maybe convert it to obd-1 later

it's not that i'm stubborn, though i may be.i just need to see the simple logic in it. you all buy better engines, trannies and the stuff that comes with is no good(ecu,distr,harn,ect.).you pick and piece other jazz to dial it in!? this is the heart of custom swapping.(guess that sounds,"right")my car has no harness, inside or out. so my logic tells me that a front clip would be a easy swap.just pull it off and stuff it in.with some good old fashion work of coarse.to my mind the hardest wiring part would be to wire in the ass of the car(fuel pump, taillights).so i guess in the end the guts of the ride would be...jdm?right.are you telling me the the jdm ecu cant be tune in u.s.?or that its harder to find a place to do it?so many questions!!! i like to think out side that box of what other poeple do,just to get it done now now now;me i have time....thank you again for your advice and help,it will all be used wisely in the future of this project/experiment.

if i were you, I'd get a conversion harness from rywire.com, and look for a ys1 cable tranny, or get the hasport mounts for hydro. conversion harness shouldn't be too hard, just convert to 4 wire o2, add vtec, knock, and rewire the dizzy

Forget the ITR front clip. The easiest way to do this is to just get the B18c5 Engine swap. Go to Hasport.com for the engine mounts, cable to hydro conversion (if you decide to use a hydro tranny), shift linkage and the axles they sell designed for your swap. Now transfer all the wiring and every usable interior pieces from the '89 CRX to the '91. Then go to Rywire.com and either get a conversion harness made or use one of their ECU jumpers/OBD1 conversion set-ups to run your motor. Stick with an OBD1 set-up. It is a very effective, simple set-up and there is a lot more support for it if you decide to turbo or want a tunable set-up in the future (Hondata, Neptune, etc) I've worked on nothing but CRX's for the last 6yrs from all motor to turbo set-ups. The Rywire and Hasport combo is the best way to go. It is literally a bolt on process and the wiring is all plug and play. If you find Hasport to be a bit pricey, also try Innovativemounts.com. They offer similar, more affordable products. I highly suggest Rywire. They really know everything about the CRX. Great service too. Trust me on this man. The last CRX I bought had an '99 Integra GSR OBD2 engine/chassis harness integrated into it and it was a disaster. It did run great but when it started to have electrical problems if was impossible to diagnose. All the splicing, butt connectors, electrical tape. It was hell. I ended up just buying another CRX just to get all the stock wiring and using Rywire conversion parts to clean it all up.

i recommend rywire...they will make you a wiring harness that plugs into you obd0 shit and still uses the itr harness...you can also send them any ecu and they will reflash it for the motor

Go with Rywire. I spent all saturday trying to rewire my CRX. Also an OBD2 GSR. Rywire is the easiest and cleanest way to go.
