i recently got a free b16a block so i plan to build it since its a lot cheaper than building my b16b block cause then i dont need custom rods (i want to keep it 1.6). here is my plan:
stock sleeves
eagle rods
some forged 9.0:1 pistons
fresh bearings
BDL block gaurd
minimal bore hone if needed
im hoping to wrap this all up for ~1500 is that reasonable? i figure
~700 for rods and pistons
80 block gaurd
100 bearings
~200 bore hone
and the remaining amount goes to assembly.
im shooting for 350+whp on pump gas, am i on the right track here?
p.s. ill be using a CTR head, the turbo (http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2048809#) is a BB t3/tO4E

well, i just did a b16 build, and it cost me about 2000 in parts. you need to think about all gaskets $200, oil pump water pump t belt and tensioner thats around $400.00. ect. unless you are going to use that stuff over.

i wouldn't do reuse the oilpump and water pump & t-belt maybe reuse the tensioner. but to invest all that dough and not put new parts in is kinda asking for trouble. but techinally you could do it.
2gencrx how far did you take the build on the b16, is it pretty built? sounds tight

thanks for the heads up on the gaskets, i get honda parts at cost so hopefully it will be a little less.

its just a b16 with pistons and rods and the head has a 3 angle valve job pretty mild. it should be a good little motor, if i ever get it in a car lol :D

i posted this on another forum and everybody said the same thing, but nobody says why, can you please explain? is it the hot spot issue? thank you.

if your building a high revving engine ive allways been told to use a block guard if you have "Floating Cyl walls". for the cost its a nice piece of mind if anything having the extra support.

On my old motor I reused my tensioner that had roughly 110k on it and it still worked fine. I replaced everything else though, and was right around $3-4k without sleeves and a similar build.

That guy just hit up several spots and put down anything to get enough posts to push his stuff in the for sale section. Damn jerk weeds.
