crx charging system issues?

so, on my way home tonight my CRX (88 si)turned on its charge light when past 2k rpms....I drove it home to try to check it out, and by the time I got there I couldn't get the light to turn back on. I let it run in the driveway for about a half hour, and couldnt get it to do anything else. The headlights would just a touch brighten when I'd bring the rpms up, but nothing drastic. Tomarow I'll start with my volt meter and see what I get. Any ideas?

There's not too much involved in that. Sounds like your alternator might be getting a little weak.

Ive had this problem with my 240 before. Sure enough it was that blasted alternator. Not much else it could be. Unless you have some seriouse wiring problems. But unless youve had this problem recently, thats most likly not it.

Just as a note with alternators, you can usually change out the brushes inside of them instead of replacing the whole alternator.

Im getting 8.5V outa the alt....and it smells like burnt electronics...far cry from the 14.7ish I should have..LOL
