Does anybody know how many splines the 86-89 Integra axels have compared to the 88-91 CRX Si and if the 86-89 Integra Axels will fit on the CRX Si tranny. My friend nick has a 90 CRX with a ZC swap. He had the ZC tranny but is switching to the CRX Si tranny. He has the 86-89 Integra axels connected to the tranny, so will the axels from the 86-89 Integra fit a 88-91 CRX Si?
Thanks
Bryan

Not sure exactly what the spline count is, but I know for a Fact that Integra axles are larger in diameter than Civic Axles. Why would you want to switch from the ZC tranny to the Si tranny? If you have one of each, you have a ZC/Si hybrid and that tranny kicks major ass.

Well it isnt my car in the first place and the ZC's tranny gearing sucks ass. The Si tranny is way better. If i were him i would do the ZC tranny with the Si final drive, but i think that he is just doing the Si tranny. There is a kid with a ZC swap and an Si tranny that pulls on my friend nick with a ZC swap and a ZC tranny. i just think the Si tranny is better all around. Just my $0.02 tho.

the use of the word tranny is in excess of legal limits here kids.

When you do the math (and you can't argue with physics), at a normal quarter mile speed for the ZC (87-91 MPH), with an average size street tire (23"), The ZC transmission will pull 2 MPH more than the Si at almost any given RPM. That's in third gear. In fourth gear, the Si Transmission gets even worse, because at .937, you are now in overdrive. Everyone has their own preferences, but the ZC transmission has better gear ratios for drag racing than the Si transmission. The math don't lie!! For more acceleration, try a 1" shorter tire. The difference in the two cars you are comparing is probably weight. Even 50 lbs will make a huge difference. Plus there is room for driver error, and one motor could be more tired than the other. I've driven a LOT of ZC powered cars, and I know the differences very well. It simply does not make sense to swap to the Si transmission unless you want the ZC/Si hybrid. I know it's not your car, but that's my .02 for your friend.

hey allmotorzc.....i think you are the one that me and my friend talked to up at bandimere. I think that you said that you could do the Si final drive in a ZC tranny right? You did have the Green CRX with ZCspeed.com on the side right? Im pretty sure you are. Would you still be willing to do that for him?

I'm more than willing to do it, but from the sound of it, it's not going to help all that much. I think your friend needs to figure out what else is wrong with his car before he goes into the transmission. ZC powered cars shouldn't run 17s and 18s. There is something else wrong, and if that could be figured out, The car would run at least a second faster. The first thing I would look at on that car is Valve adjustment, I've seen these cars get the valves adjusted too tight, and they run like crap. His symptoms sound like he has low compression. There's an underlying problem that needs to be addressed. Let me know if you need any help, or if he wants to go ahead and go with the ZC/Si hybrid now.

Well how would he be able to check the compression and find out what other problems he might have? But i do know for sure he wants to do the ZC/Si hybrid but he also wants to get the motor tuned good too. Let me know when you can help.
Thanks

Compression is checked with a compression tester (available at napa, harbor frieght, etc.) Valve clearance is checked using feeler gauges. If you aren't sure how to do either one, myself or any respectable mechanic should be able to perform these checks. If you adjust the valve clearance (or even check it) you will want to purchase a new valve cover gasket and 4 new plug well seals. Valve clearance is 0.15mm intake and 0.17mm Exhaust. Compression should be well above 100 psi, and very similar readings from cyl to cyl.

well do you think you would be able to check all that for him? How much would you charge to check it out for him? Let me know
Thanks

Grand total parts and labor would be $77.27 for a valve adjustment and compression test. Let me know if you would like to schedule an appointment.
