After reading a few threads on here on the theft of Civics (usually modified),
I can't help but to be concerned because I'm bringing the Civic over as my DD and keeping it stock to hopefully deter theives and not spend much money on it other than maintenance items.

That being said, what are the chances of a bone-stock Civic hatch getting stolen? Pretty high or low? Or difficult to determine due to varying factors?

Keep a stock stereo in it, no subs/amps, keep any valuable possesions out of it......and you shouldn't have to worry to much

I'd still alarm it, club/autoloc it though

Well, if you get even a basic alarm on it, with it being stock, that will only help deter theives away.. so it wouldn't hurt. In fact, I'd bet it'd help quite a bit, actually.

I'll consider getting a basic alarm at most.

It's just that it's very hard to find stock Civic hatches these days so I'd hate to see mine get stolen.

Well if it's that bad, then I'll go for more protection lol

I really just don't see how a $500 investment (pretty nice alarm at that price) isn't worth protecting your much more expensive investment; the whole car.

Get Lo-Jack

My mom works for Boulder County Police, and they've recovered 2 stolen vehicles in the past week that had Lo-Jack!

if its not stolen completely they will still break into it to steal your radio, seats, etc.

an lo-jack only works when the cop car with a lo-jack tracking system is within range. it does not track your car via GPS.

I did that with my G2 Integra as well, except the stock head unit, and it included rust, scraped up fat 5's, and major dents.......and it was stolen. Though recovered with no stereo

Lo-jack only work in certain area. So if the thief took your car out of city limit of Lo-jack then it worthless.

I had a civic with rims, intake, exhaust and a little stereo done to it. I've only had that car for 6 months, but within that time frame never got it broken into. Then again I didnt live in shady areas.
