Not exactly. The deal with Microsoft is only for eposidic content in the Xbox 360 version of GTA 4. That's an add-on to the game, which is planned to be complete in 2008. The game itself will still be released on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Ahhh, even at that, I have a hard time coughing up $600 for a fuckin gaming machine. $400 was hard enough for the 360....even with the price drops its still crazy amount of moneyz

if you are going to jump on a PS3 I suggest do it before they scale it back...They have said that they will drop the price and scale back processing power and the emotion engine on it. And just sale the sooped up version for more later when the better games come out...

Glad I got it for free... But it is good news for those who do not have it... I onder if there is going to be anything else on the new 80gb to justify $100 more in price because I already upgraded my 60gb HDD to 120gb for less then $100 when I consider I got the new drive for $150 and then sold the old one for $60...

IMO Blu-ray will win out as the preferred recording media and then PS3 will be the dominant game system in the next few years once the ball really gets rolling.
Blu-ray controls 65% of the sales market as of late, last year it was 63/37 in favor of HDDVD.
Also Blockbuster has gone Blu-ray exclusive and so has Disney.

No WAI!!! Sony has tried to introduce new technology that they supposedly have said would change the industry and have fallen on their face everytime (cameras, multimedia cards, DVD recorders, computers) and Blu-Ray will be the same. A win with Blockbuster is nothing for them, Blockbuster has been going downhill since Net-Flix evolved, and this is their last ditch effort to gain more popularity. Net-Flix is going to the HD-DVD path, and will continue to close down Blockbuster, and I'm willing to be McDonalds will be the next HD-DVD provider with the Red Boxes.
HD-DVD players are much cheaper, most of the discs are multi-use...standard def as well as high def. XBOX tripled the volume of PS3's last year, and they have a much cheaper option to the HD-DVD player for already 360 owners....
Blu-Ray will die off here soon, most likely when Sony realizes that their system sucks, they have no games for it, and prices are still too high even with the price drop (and XBOX followed suit with an equal price drop)

And also, rumor has it that GT5 wont be released till Q3 or Q4 of 2009!! Microsoft will have created and released Forza 2 and PGR4 in the time, Sony has created GT5.........and GT5 possibly might not have damage in the game

you are crazy to think netflix is going to beat out blockbuster...
And microsoft has yet to make a profit on the 360s even more so now that they have to fork out a BILLION dollars to fix them.
And even the upgraded HD-DVD doesnt hold the info in a blu-ray disk.
Conrad
07-12-2007, 02:45 PM
and plus the linking between sony and peripherials is awesome compared to 360...
They are talking of linking psp's to the ps3 so you can have your play book on madden be the psp screen... (cool idea IMO) this is only a tip of the iceberg when it comes to interoperability.
new bluetooth camera can be linked to show movies or pics over the PS3...

Microsoft increased their warranty to 3 years as well, and have alleviated alot of their issues they were having with their first generations....fewer and fewer new systems are bricking. (although I have the first gen, and play it almost daily, with all types of complex games and havent had one issue other then random freezes, which happens with any system)
Blockbuster is closing 280+ stores across the US, to concentrate on their internet part of their business, and their stocks have been dwindling down and down and netflix continues to increase.
Conrad
07-12-2007, 02:54 PM
280 stores???? they only have like 10000...
And yes they are concentrating on the internet part, but being able to go pick up a movie after watching the mail one while having the new movie already on its way is > netflix...
yes i know that sentence didnt make sence lol

Well, except for the whole 3.5" floppy disk thing that were a pretty huge part of personal computers for a good 10-15 years. :D I agree about Blu-Ray though... The players are too expensive, there's not enough support for it, not enough reason for people to upgrade, and not enough reason to choose it over HD DVD. I'm perfectly happy with regular DVD's and 480p on my 47" TV, even though it can do 1080i.

did you miss the part where sales of each format has reversed in less than a year?
Just wait and see ;Blu-ray is the superior format and has twice the storage capacity to boot.
4 studios are Blu-ray exclusive while HDDVD has only two on board so far.
Sony did revolutionize the console systems with the introduction of the PS and controlled 70% of the console market with the PS2.

This is the reason why I've been holding on buying a system. I knew PS3 would have GT5... people are like PS3 sucks get an xbox,,, they've been trying to convince me for a while. but theres only one thing that keeps me from buying xbox and that is GT5... also the price on the PS went down too... hell yeah im buying one

HAHAH!!!
So Sony announced that they were going to reduce the price of the 60GB model last week right?? Well, looks like they are going to discontinue that model anyways  Meaning that its back to the $599 price point
'All they're doing is taking their stock and marking the price down'
SCEE president David Reeves has told GamesIndustry.biz that the 60GB PlayStation 3 will no longer be available in the US after stock sells out - which he predicts will occur by the end of the month.
Reeves was speaking at an E3 event to announce the introduction of a new PS3 bundle in Europe. When asked about possible criticisms over whether SCEE should have given consumers the option to pay a lower price, as SCEA has done, he replied, "Well, they're not really are they, because what the US are offering from the 1st of August is a USD 599 version with one game.
"All they're doing is taking their stock in trade that they've got at the moment of the 60GB model, marking the price down and it will all be gone by the end of July."
When asked to clarify if this will mean the end of the 60GB model, Reeves answered, "In America, yes."
SCEA announced a USD 100 price cut for PlayStation 3 earlier this week. A new 80GB model will come bundled with a copy of Motorstorm and will retail for USD 599.

If you plan to get a PS3 just for 1 game..you are dumb. However, I actually think M$ is doing a lot of things right this year with the 360..and Forza looks every bit as good as those demo videos for GT.
The format war on the other hand..meh..not decided yet. Sony is a whore for their technology but they are also very greedy..which I think is going to kill them in the end. The only one who is being hurt by the format war is consumers..beside, freaking movies in blu ray and hd dvd are expensive..holy crap. :p
