Highway riding now blows dead bears. But the acceleration got a hell of a lot better. It's still no R1, but it made a world of difference at altitude. I rode the entire route from Idaho Springs to Evergreen around Mt. Evans today, and it helped.

Yeah - that's on the shopping list. :)

The difference seems to vary from about 3mph-13mph off, depending on how fast my speedo-indicated speed is. I just compensate for what I feel like the correct speed is, and every radar sign I've passed puts me pretty close.

Yeah I gotta get out there with a buddy and find out how far off I am at 25-45-55-75......

What is it? More links for faster responses?

he changed the size/teeth on the front and rear sprockets and changed the chain. lose some on the top speed, pick up acceleration.

been wanting to do this on my zx6r, first gear is way too tall.

Gearing / pulley principle. Shrink the front (drive) sprocket, and enlarge the rear (driven) sprocket. Top end suffers immensely, but given that a 600 runs out of air above about 120mph at this altitude anyway, the change suits the bike and application well.

Precisely.

I've never ridden a newer ZX-6R... is 1st gear THAT bad?

yeah I heard that it blows riding on the highway with that set up... how is your gas mileage? I'm right now in Wisconsin picking up that one bike that I posted about.... I believe it has the same set up... so we'll see how that feels. I think that set up makes it easier to do wheelies? am I wrong? You should invest into a PCIII

It lowers your final drive, so wheelies are A LOT easier.

94mph (indicated) in 1st at redline. My friends 600's only hit around 80 in 1st

when I leave from a light or stop sign, It bogs unless you rev it up high. kinda sucks, been reading that changing the sprockets make it a much better street bike.

Oh yuck.

To get a feel for what sprockets will do for you without having to change your chain, spend about $40 and replace the front one and go -1, or change the rear and go +2. Not a dramatic change either way, but you don't have to change the chain out.
