Going to take it to be diagnosed after i post this. But just tell me what you think.

The computer is a Second Generation Dell XPS I haven't really added anything to it but a little bit more ram so you can say its pretty out dated. But it competes with the computers at most PC arcades/cafes.

Pentium 4 - 3.0Ghz
Ati Radeon 9800 - 128 Mbs
512 Mushkin DDR ram (used to have 1GB)

The good stuff i guess... but you can already imagine what its built with considering it was Dells second generation gaming computer.

Anyways i only really played Lineage 2 on it and nothing else. I had the basic AIM and windows live Messenger, Firefox as my browser, a Norton Anti Virus program ( which i always kept updated ), Winamp, my music ( which i ripped off my CDs ) and litterally NOTHING else.

Anyways the computer ran like a dream. I could run lineage at full graphics and only lag slightly during 100-200 plus people raids. Then one day i started it up and it just ran like shit. It took about 5 minutes to start up. I was at the windows XP ''welcome'' screen for about 3 or 4 minutes, and everything else just took forever to load. shit i would get like, freezes that ranged from 30 seconds to about 1 minute every time i clicked on soemthing.

Anyways i ran a virus and adware scane and found nothing. Did a system restore and that did nothing. So i said fuck it, ill just reformat the drive, theres hardly anything on this thing anyways. So i did that and that didn't help. I did it 3 times actually =/

So now there is nothing on this thing but the bare ass programs i got from the restoration discs. and it still runs like shit.

Thought my processor over heated but it hasn't, and my memory isn't the problem because i took them all out, cleaned the terminals, reinsterted them and still got these annoying freezes. I took them all out and tried running them one by one to see if it was the cards and all them them seem to work fine.

I don't know what the fuck is wrong with this thing but its driving me mad.

What the mother fuck man? any you guys into computers enough to have a idea what this thing's problem is?

You're memory may still be bad. I have seen this happen more than once. Shit, I'll be in D-town tomorrow. I have a bootable program that will check you're hardware, and it will definently weed out bad shit. Checks the cache, processor, and memory. Could be you're motherboard though.

What Street Kings said. Burn a bootable CD and let it exercise your memory overnight. Could be bad RAM, could be something on the board is giving up, could be a disk going bad.

Does the dell website have any diags specific to your system which you can grab & run?

No, i even asked the dell tech support guy and he said there wasn't any to his knowledge, i'd call BS on that but the guy didn't have a funny middle eastern accent so ya....i figured he knew what he was talking about

Check www.dell.com, then go looking for dell laptop forums.

First and foremost get yourself a copy of memtest86. Let it run overnight & see what the results are.
