b20vtec with boost :) but i think the hatch would be a better platform if you want it for anything other than dragging

CR-VTEC for sure. Mecham.... that's not an option you jackass :)
H22A is cool, but there's a few problems that come into account. I have a good friend w/ one in his EG6 Hatch. The Timing belt cover comes within 1cm of the driver-side unibody rail. Want to change the timing belt, or the auto tensioner? Werd, but you have to almost pull the engine all the way out. Also, aftermarket support for the H22A isn't as preveilant as it is for a b-series set-up. You'll also save about $500.00 on the mount kit that you don't need for the b-series block. Another thing is, the H22A Trannies are all cable shifted, B and D-series? They have a fixed shift linkage. If you use the cable shifting on the H22A, you have to cut a hole just in front of the shifter for the cables to come through. Hope you like cold weather. Also, the H22A weighs about 100lbs more than a B-series, so your handling won't be as balanced, a tad more understear than normal.
