I'd have to rank this project as one of the more unenjoyable things I've ever done. I'd swear Satan engineered my car. hehe. I will be thankful if I never see the passenger side strut ever again. ;) Also, the Bentley manual wasn't accurate on the front strut upper mounts. I guess VW changed the design or something, because my car was different than the manual. My upper mount looked different, and I had 1 more piece than the manual showed. About the only thing the Bentley manual was good for was torque values.
The rear suspension gave me major headaches too....which was really unusual. It didn't seem as if I was getting full droop or something. The Bentley manual says the springs should "fall out," but I had to use compressors and A LOT of elbow grease to get those puppies loose. Even with the shock disconnected, and pushing down on the wheel as hard as I could, I STILL had to use compressors to get the damn springs out.
Anyway, the drop isn't quite what I wanted, but the car handles 100% better than before. It's a pretty slick handling car now. I am hoping the springs will settle so I get a bit more visual impact. I am beginning to wonder if I should have gone with the race springs vs. the sport springs.
