I've never watched a Michael Moore film before, but this one is a good watch. Made me VERY happy to be leaving America. I hope all of you get out and vote because our country is going downhill quickly. I could go on for days, but I will leave it at that.

Michael Moore is probably, and i swear to god, the one person in the world that I want to punch in the face harder than i've ever hit anyone before. He's a piece of shit that likes to skew facts, but i digress.

Our country is going to shit. Fucking republicans have handed out a massive skullfucking of our country for the past 8 years. Time for the dems to go out and fix shit, yet again.

I completely agree about michael moore, and i've never watched any of his movies because I think he is a jackass, but the movie brings forth some good points.

If Michael Moore didnt go into peoples personal space and badger them in all of his movies, you would feel the same about all of his other movies....because thats the only thing that "Sicko" is missing....and thats why it is getting good reviews and getting people to talk. Look past that with his other movies and you would feel just as strong of an opinion of the matters he films about

I just cant believe that he is going to try and say that health care in shitty nations is better than ours... advancement wise.

I was in the military govt health care REALLY sucks.

Brian
06-28-2007, 06:13 AM
He didn't say we were worse advancement wise, he just pointed out the fact that we kick people out of hospitals for not being able to afford health care, and charge people out the ass. He shows that even though many of these other countries have national health care, they still have quality care.

For our country to have the things we have and the money in this country we have a very poor health care system period.

I agree with you but think about how that plays in capitalism...

You have a premium car because you paid premium costs... same goes for health care.

You have to pay to play.. Because one is a need and another is a want doesnt change the fact that the economics around health care are just that the economics of what health care people can charge and still get people to pay for their services...

But otherwise I agree a national health care change would be good, but so would getting rid of social security and what not...

Brian

I know what you mean, but we already have a socialized (read socialized, not socialist) school system where kids go to grades K-12 for free. We have a socialized library system, police, fire, etc. Going a step further and taking it to health care would be great in my opinion. I'm self employed and I can't afford decent health care, nor can my business partner. If something happened to either of us we would be screwed. A few months ago my business partner cut his leg doing something in the yard. The hospital charged him 600 dollars to look at it and tell him he didn't need stitches. It's pathetic.

Corporate taxes currently fund the war. If we cut back our military spending and changed our foreign policy from a police nation to a peace keeping one, we would have more than enough money in the budget to support a national health care system.

What we need is for ron paul to get elected, come in and change our government from the ground up. That or a revolution. We're all scared of our government when the government should in fact be scared of us and work for us.

Conrad

as long as you mean supplemental military spending I agree... Dont cut DoD budget at all... Troops work harder and more than most and get paid less.

Brian
06-28-2007, 07:53 AM
No, we still need our military. I just think we need to shift our role in world politics. Lead by example instead of by force.

Conrad
06-28-2007, 07:55 AM

I have not really read into Sicko, or anything moore has really done. What exactly is Sicko about? Is it on the healthcare system in America? I stopped paying attention to him after his 9/11 movie.

In a video I saw he was asked "Why don't you answer the real questions of 9/11" He stated "Because that would be Un-American". However, he is now asking some of the very same questions. Maybe he has changed his view-point, or is now willing to say something (when most the public is) who knows.

Has anyone else watched Sicko? Opinions?

Like I said, I am NOT a michael moore fan. I think the guy is a jackass, but I can honestly say this movie was well done. He did it more like a documentary and didn't attack anyone, but rather just presented a point of view. I'll have it uploaded to one of my servers in a couple hours and will provide a download link.

STFU Weston! You bastid! :D

Right now, it'll either be Mexico or Central America somewhere. The difference in cultures is amazing. It doesn't matter what you have or what you do and family/relationships are very important to the Hispanic culture. Unlike the US that will do anything to make an extra buck.

Get to work with a few Chinese businesses and you'll see how great American capitalism really is.

people make fun of it, but i honestly wouldn't mind living in canada. Very similar culture/lifestyle, better health benefeits, less corrupt government, insanely lower crime, and legal weed and hookers. awesome.

what where are you moving to brian?

Costa Rica in about a year. Probably settle down there, then travel to Europe and such since i'll be saving thousands a month. I want to live my life to the fullest, not be strapped down to debt like 99 percent of america. I just think there is more to life.

So do I, but watch the movie.

I just watched the movie and I think you're very politically confused.

You think that Ron Paul will save the country when one of his first initiatives will be to drop most welfare programs and privatize all of health care.

Then you fall in love with a movie showing how bad private health care is. Ron Paul stands for the opposite of everything this movie just presented. The only thing Ron Paul agrees on with Michael Moore is that the borders should be open for drugs. But Ron Paul doesnt believe in the FDA so who knows how any of that would work in his world anyway.

BTW - The movie is his typical bullshit.
Plays on everyone's emotions and pounds away at what he thinks is right.
Very well done though, he's definitely a pro

Brian
06-29-2007, 06:41 AM
I'm not politically confused at all. Ron Paul wants to get rid of HMO's to increase REAL competition in the health care industry thus drastically lowering costs. http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul345.html

Michael Moore's movie is what it is, but it does show that the health care industry in America is in very sad shape. I'm always for less government and would rather we follow Ron Paul and do away with the government regulations that keep the prices high, but in reality that will never happen. The next best thing and most likely will be universal health care like most other western countries. It's not my ideal, but it's FAR better than what we have now.

So once again, i'm far from politically confused, just being realistic.....

and I think i've said at least 5 or 6 times in this thread that Michael Moore is a jackass ;).
