Congrats on the R6 mann. Insurance isn't cheap for sports bikes. If you find something lmk lol.

The insurance will be pretty much the same if is a brand new bike with full coverage. It also depends on your age. I had liability once and it was 30 bucks a month... way cheaper... if I wanted full coverage it would be like 250 a month. Since I paid off my bike the liability sounded good. Progressive is one of the cheapest insurances...

I pay $670 per year for my R1 through progressive, about $65 per month. I can set you up with my agent. she'll get you hooked up

Yeah progressive is one of the biggest insurance companies that do bike insurance. I once called esurance to get a quote and they actually go through a different company for insurance... kinda weird to me so I just decided to stay with progressive.

lol progressive, cheap, thats funny. Every motorcycle quote I've ever gotten they were much higher, in some cases double some of the other companies. I'm 23 with a clean record too.

Yeah with progressive. I just called after seeing a tv commercial and they quoted $250 per month.
I went and talked to a local agent and she hooked me up at $65 per month. She said that she got me in for some special discounts that some other agents wont tell you about.

I realize that has a lot to do with it. But considering how much a few tickets can hurt you, it seems like it would help a bit the other way too, but I guess insurance never really has made sense. Like I said a few posts ago, I have a clean record, I've had my motorcycle endorsement for a few years now, had a 1200cc sport bike for quite a while. I drive for a living. Yet every quote I've gotten so far is going to cost me more than the bike itself.

Sounds about right for liability only.

that's all that really matters, if you can live with paying it, it's a good deal until you can find something better.

it only makes sense to them :) there just may be some other factors that are in consideration for the amount they want.

the example I have:
My best friend had an 05 STi, I have an 05 evo, we both had similar driving records when we purchased the cars. the STi has a better safety rating (according to state farm) while the evo took the #1 spot from the Escalade for highest cost of claims in 2005
his insurance: $179/month full coverage 1000 deduct.
my insurance: $86/month full coverage 500 deduct.

he is a year younger than I am.

State farm is the way to go with sport bikes. I pay 717/yr for full coverage with $500 deductible and 100/300/100 for my 1000RR

No bike, but progressive came back with a car quote for me which was right at 50% of what I was paying to Farmers.

Not a problem, glad we can help. Just fyi guys, with more than 3 tickets/accidents in the past 3 years or a suspension/major ticket with in 5 years we can't do it. But other than that, we should be pretty good.

what if i had a 3 pt ticket when i was 16 for reckles driving and nothing after that. Had one bike accident 2 months ago and I'm 21... what do you think a quote from you would be for liability at is cheapest.?

stu

Reckless driving is an 8 point ticket, so if you only got three, it was reduced to something else. I doubt a 3 point ticket from 5 years ago would mean shit now.

guessinthe2000
06-22-2007, 02:59 PM
well i had a 21 point ticket... my moms bf is a lawyer so he got the whole thing reduced to 3 as reckless driving...
