Only Background Sound on Certain DVDs

When I put certain DVDs in, I only hear background sounds, like not voices but cars and stuff like that. I'll try playing them with windows media player, VLC, interactual, and the same with all of the players.

WTF am I missing?

Have you tried them in a standalone DVD player?

You prolly have it set to do like 5.1 or dolby digital and only have a 2 speaker setup? Or maybe have it set to digital and you dont have a decoder..? Or maybe..feh could be anything, check the sound settings.

Your missing the center channel set the audio to Dolby 2 in the DVD itself.
