Welcome to the board! We did need to diversify the VW ranks around here. It'll be nice to see a early GTI in addition to all the mkiv's. :)

Yes This car only has a 8v and I am planning on putting the 16v or the v6 motor in this little beast of mine. Thanks for the wonderful welcoming. As soon as I get everything done I hope I can run really quick in the 1/4. I have all winter to get my car in top shade. So do you guys ever meet up any where just to cruise or what other kind of car club events do you guys run? Thanks for everything.

We get together a lot during the winter for luncheons. We usually have a mountain cruise afterwards. The luncheons have been getting huge with over 100 or more people at the last couple. Besides that we also get together and have a race team that runs all summer at bandimere. You and everyone else are always welcome to join us on all of our events, and bring as many people as you can.

I am also a newbie with a mk2 GTI. I decided that instead of starting my onw "hello ya'll" thread, i would latch onto this one. I have an 87 GTI VR6...

86GTI, if you need any help or parts hookups i know these cars upsidedown and insideout. My little sister has an 85 with a 2.0l crossflow OBDii motor in it. I have a shit ton of parts back at my house...i love mk2s and their drivers (yes, even my sister) :P

welcome. I love the mk2s also. used to have a 87 jetta. I loved that car, it was lots of fun and never let me down. sometimes I miss it...until i step on the gas in the 1.8t...but im sure with the vr6 its plenty fast

thanx all! I love my mk2 also, i have owned 4 of them. I need to do something with my VR...it is not running as it should, i think i need to replace the head...it is making nasty knocking sounds up there...but i think i'll just keep driving it for now. It relaly has no engine mods. Intake (no alternative options here since it is a swap...i could not run an airbox even if i wanted to, and believe me i want to), exhaust (techtonics), and motor mounts (vibratechnics front, and turn2 tranny). Besides that it is all OEM VW parts (corrado, passat, mk3 gti and jetta).

My latest kick is lighting since it is cheap and i don't have any money anymore. I have been relaying and replacing lights.

Here is a pic since i got a good welcoming (i don't want to be all show-offey being a newbie and all, that is kinda annoying. "look at me, look at me. my ride is dope, bla bla")

Lighting you say? When I get some money, I plan on getting some nice little black driving lights... and putting them in my back window. The next time some fucker decides to tale gate me when I am not in the fast lane...It will be "Good Morning Sunshine!!!"

That is what euro (or rear) fog lights are for. They are really bright and controlled from my headlight switch. Pull out once for front fogs, twice for rear. They are really bright (21W bulb) and aimed straight back. They make rear fog light kits for bugs too since it is a euro requirement.

If you see a euro car w/ one really bright light (usually driver side) it is not german electrical probs, or the wrong bulb, it is euro fog. This is one of the reasons there is a common idea (or misconception...but that might be pushing it) that german cars have electrical probs. People are like, "look, they can't even get tail lights right, one is brighter than the other." or "that driver's side brake light is stuck on".

P.S. - I sit next to your girl in class. :) She is really cool, you lucky STUd :)

I hope she comes over to the euro side (just as you have) *evil laugh*. Her wrecking cars is really helping create euro enthusiests. As she probably told you i took her to the VW dealer the other day, trying to convert her to VWism.

So your "the" Lucas huh? Nice to meet you. You sound cool, and respectful enough to not hit on my girl. ;)

P.S. I went to the "other side" by default.

I am content with a girl of my own (car girls are the best!). Plus i would never scam on someone else's mate anyways!

I got an A on my exam today, ask J what she got...i am willing to bet she got a better score than me (i got a %94). She beat me last time too (smart girls make lucas feel dumb) :D
