If I don't want a plain website to see my IP, how do I hide it?
If I hide my IP address, will my MAC address still be available?

I dont really know much about networking so if someone could explain, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Use a proxy server to hide the Ip address, but there is no decent way to spoof the mac address

Well your IP is given to you by your ISP... so they will always track you to at least that...

Get a firewall or a router that runs NAT...

That allows for another device to change your IP to another IP... usually a private space address to a public one and vice versa...

For your computer to talk to anything it has to use that MAC address.

Sounds like you just need to get a firewall or some Internet Security software.

You need an IP (and a routeable one at that) to get anywhere on the net, the most you can do is use an IP that a lot of people use, IE like a internet cafe, proxy, or zombies where it's more difficult to track.

your computer's MACs are a non issue really, you can change your mac instantly and easily through software. If you use comcast though there's no way to change the MAC of your router, which is how comcast tells which modems are allowed to access the network.

Run through Proxys to hide your IP address, or if you're truly paranoid and/or need to do some illicit shit change your wireless adapter's MAC and hop onto an unsecured wireless network in your area. Extra points if you deauth and spoof an existing wireless device's MAC so on their router's logs it will look like their computer accessed it and not 13:37:13:37:13:37 (which i actually saw on my router's logs last year at defcon, lol) or some other random address. If there are no open networks, pop a secured one open with the backtrack distro (or any linux build and use kismet/airodump/airocrack/aireplay).
