why? If you don't mind me asking. You can get a port and polished b16 head for cheaper then a type R head.

And the factory job leaves alot to be desired.

and can you really tell the difference between the two visually? i think the cams have different markings but other than that......

Probably cause a type r head comes with, High-volume intake manifold, hand-polished intake ports, Twin-coil intake valve springs with oval cross-section for high lift, Lightweight high flow intake valves to extend engine rev range by 200 rpm.

I'm not trying to talk him out of it. I was just wondering why everyone wants the type R. If you think about it for extra 2-300 you can have a fully built head.

I don't know what you mean by fully built for $200-$300? It would cost a little bit more than that unless you think fully built is just springs and retainers....Cause it would prob cost me over a $1200 to fully build a stock head. Not including intake manifold and tb.

I ment 2-300 on top of the 1000 he will spend on a type R head.

i know the civic type-r doesn't come ported and polished from the factory. lol
