Alright so, I've had this problem where the my negative battery cable bolt has been stripped. So every now and then my car wouldn't start and I'd have to go and take it off and refit it back on the terminal. Its been working for a while now until now.

It happened today when I tried to start the car, loose all power, no dash lights, nothing. So I go and do my same routine, but this time when I put the battery cable back on instead of the alarm going off, it just chirps, beep beep beep, like that. So I'm like well thats weird, so I start messing with it and can't get anything to work.

So I walk back to work, and called Steve to come pick me up. I took some copper wire with me thinking I could just wrap it around the clamp and that would make everything tight. Well it did that, but still just chirping. So I'm like well maybe the battery died somehow, so he turns around to give me a jump, put the jumper cables on and the same thing no power.

Now I did just put the cables on the clamp, but shouldn't the copper cable have worked to make the connection tight?

I was talking to Nate and he seems to think something is wrong with the alarm. Which seems to make sense because normally I don't have to crank down on the clamp to get the alarm to go off. Usually as soon as the clamp just touches the battery terminal the alarm goes off.

I don't know that I'd be able to get the alarm into valet mode while its acting like this.

Just pull the fuse for the alarm for the time being. I know with a Viper alarm, once you reconnect the battery terminal, the freaking alarm goes off and since the horn is usually in the engine compartment, you go deaf.

try using a bent penny instead of the copper wire maybe

Got it running tonight. Turns out that even though I grease my terminals to keep them from corroding the positive side was causing problems. I tried hitting it with my ratchet and I got power again, and try tried starting, but it didn't work. So I went and messed with it some more and was able to get it working.

Thanks for the help
