I am planning to do the same thing that you are, but in the far future because I am jobless. Anyway, is it the wastegate that determines the boost level? How much have you spent so far? Last, how much boost can you run on a stock block? I have GSR, should make much of a difference in how much boost I can hold on a stock block?

Yes the spring in the wastegate determines the boost, unless you get a boost controller, then you can go higher than the wastegate just not lower. A GSR has 10:1 compression so keep it no higher than 10psi and you'll be ok. I'd keep it at 8psi most of the time if I were you. A Type-R is 10.6:1 so I wouldn't go over 8psi, 6psi daily would be safe.

It had a 1.8T emblem on the back, hehe! was it a black coupe on 17" rims, with a roll bar, and racing seat? if so, it was my friend Will. its pretty fuckin quick

I got the car up and running on Friday night. I'm only boosting 4psi right now and it runs really well and feels pretty damn strong. I raced my buddies '95 Eclipse GSX w/ an intake and pulled pretty hard a few times, and was shifting conservatively at about 7000 RPM's. I plan on upping the boost to 6.5psi and hope to be running low 14's at worst, w/ full interior and street tires.

Very Sweet. How much did you save vs. buying a DRAG kit or any other kit if you dont mind me asking?

and does that tial wastegate clear the hood fine?

I have around $2400 or less invested, and that includes everything from the oil to the beer I paid with for some misc. welding etc. I think it's safe to say I did a lot of searching etc. and put together a kit that is way better than any premanufactured kit and costs alot less:) A few friends and businesses were really cool and gave me great deals as well.
I hope to get to the track next wednesday to see what she runs. Oh and yes, the WG does currently slightly touch the hood when it's closed, it kind of sucks but there is a lot of shit you have to deal with for a custom kit. I'm extremely happy with so far.

I'll give you call next time I'm up there Jeremy.

Looking sweet man. Did you have your IC piping welded for the most part or what? My manifold, turbo, and downpipe are in the mail with the intercooler, piping, and everything else coming in a week and a half. I have mandrel bends I'm gonna need to fab up for the intercooler piping so I was just wondering where you got yours done at.

I did all the piping with Mandrel bent U bends myself. In my sig you'll see my business, thats what I do. Custom IC piping, Air intakes, downpipes etc. I cut, mark, and clock all my pipes and have a shop weld everything for me. I plan on getting a welder sometime way down the road hopefully.

Good show, that's pretty cool. That should be good enough for a 13 I would hope, tires are key though.... You'll be at IDRC, yes?

Mark_H

13's would be nice but I'm not real sure what I'll hit, I'd be happy with low 14's. I realized yesterday after connecting my stock cat and exhaust that the turbo lags a BUNCH more than an open Downpipe. For IDRC I'll probabaly drop the exhaust and run 6.5psi and hope for 13's.
I'll be running the stock ITR wheels and tires, Potenza Re-10's.
