Hello all. I am so close to gettin my swap done, and now I am dealin with this. I got this swap from a wrecked car. Its a b17a1 out of a 92 GsR. There was a crack where the mount was, but I got it anyways, due to rarity and great pricing (it was this crack that made the original owner not keep it, I think). I put pics up and then explain.
Current:

So, the mount was not completely ripped out, but the left side suffered badly. The other 2 bolt holes were completely stripped, and the bolts were badly bent. My friend rethreaded it, but after looking at it, I am wondering if I should just take it to a machine shop; weld it, fill it, and redrill everything. Or if this motor might just be fucked. Sad thing is that its a b17, and I would rather just fix her than get rid of her. My friend has a b16 block, which I could switch everything and still have the 1.7L (stroked not bored).
I guess I'm just asking for opinions from the gurus. Ted will probably chime in to add to this. Sorry for the long ass thread.
Thanks!

I would hit up Wagners and have him weld a chunk on to the left bolt side then have your friend redrill it. You should be able to get the surface pretty flat again with a die grinder and a sanding block. If I had my mill and welder here I would offer that for you to use. That is how I would do it. The other two look good. You can bolt the mount back on to it and see if you can torque it to spec. If that holds you should be fine. They should be srtrong enough. I am guessing he helicoiled the other two?

And as for helicoiled the other two, I don't know. But the threads are now too big for the original bolts. So, I need to find hardened bolts I suppose that will fit it. Otherwise, the motor and transmission are beautiful.

You can heli-coil or time-cert the other two bolt holes as a temp fix, but I would do the same as slow96. That third should be welded and redrilled/threaded. Sad thing is that it is tough to do in the car. If you bring me the motor I can weld it and fix all the threads and resurface the area for you.

Yeah, its completely out of the car. Trannie is separated from it also.
Thank you very much sir!

Try Rocky mountain machine! I had a head that some idiot broke the cam cap bolt off inside removed it and then tried to use a tap and broke it off. Stan cut the corner off and welded in a new peice and by the time he was done you would have never known he did anything. He's a little cranky about working on the ''jap crap'' sometimes but he does great work and his prices are fair.

As Tobi said it's easier to do out of car. With aluminum you have to use AC current, this can destroy electronics near the welding and welder if the thing isn't grounded really good (Same with DC current). I would pull the motor as it's much cheaper to do then replace the ECU and other electronics. I lost a cell phone while welding a few years back. I have a lift you can use if you need one along with the tools.
